Lydia McDonough

REVERE — Lydia (Modugno) McDonough of Revere, formerly of Lynn, passed away on April 3, 2020 at the Alliance Health at Rosewood in Peabody after a brief illness. Lydia was the wife of the late John J. McDonough, who passed away in 1988, with whom she shared 41 years of marriage.

Lydia was born in Lynn and was the daughter of the late Ferdinando Modugno and Alfonsina (Francia) Modugno. She attended Lynn Public Schools and was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School in 1938.

After high school, Lydia started her career as a secretary at the Boston Naval Shipyard. She then went on to work at the Transitron Company in Wakefield and then spent 15 years working at the State House in Boston. 

Lydia is survived by her son, John A. McDonough and his wife Pamela (Scollins) McDonough of Peabody; and her two grandchildren, Kelly Fox and her husband Lee Fox of Pelham, N.H., and James McDonough of Magalia, Calif. She also leaves her two precious great-grandsons, Brady Fox and Corey Fox of Pelham, N.H., as well as many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Besides her husband, Lydia was predeceased by her son Thomas McDonough of Revere and her three sisters, Norma Modugno of Lynn, Vilma von Kahle and her husband Paul of New Hampshire and Daisy DiCesare and her husband Anthony of Revere. She was the aunt of the late Gail (DiCesare) Shea, who was like a daughter to her.

Service information: Adhering to the guidelines of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the CDC funeral services will be private. Arrangements under the direction of the SOLIMINE Funeral Home, Lynn.  Friends are encouraged to leave condolences for the family at www.solimine.com. A celebration of her life will be announced at a later date.
