LYNN — Mary Teresa (Doyle) Johnson, 86, of Lynn, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 8, 2019, after a courageous battle with a lengthy illness with her loving family by her side. She was the devoted wife of Donald E. Johnson.
Mary was born on Dec. 29, 1932 to the late Thomas J. and Anna A. (Tobin) Doyle. She was a lifelong resident of Lynn and graduate of Braintree High School with the Class of 1950. After graduation, Mary went on to work for Liberty Mutual in their Worcester office as a clerk. Following her employment at Liberty Mutual, Mary began working for GE where she met the love of her life, Donald, with whom she shared 63 years of marriage.
She was a kind, gentle soul who was generous to others and always willing to lend a helping hand. Mary was a lifelong communicant at St. Pius V Church. She had a strong passion for learning, reading and writing. Mary was a published author of short stories and children’s books, but her greatest love and accomplishment was her family. Everyone who met her instantly fell in love with her charming, kind spirit.
Mary leaves behind her beloved husband Donald E. Johnson; and her cherished sons, Mark S. and Eric S. Johnson. In addition to her parents, Mary is predeceased by her son Daniel Johnson.
Service information: Mary’s funeral will be held at St. Pius V Church, Lynn, on Friday, Dec. 13, 2019 at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Lynn.
