Marie Wrigley, 91

PEABODY — Marie “Margie” (Doucette) (Lenihan) Wrigley, 91, of Peabody and formerly of Lynn, died peacefully Monday morning at the Brudnick Center for Living in Peabody following a lengthy illness.

Born and raised in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late Anthony J. and Eva (Bourque) Doucette. She was educated in Lynn and was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School, Class of 1947. She continued her education at Comptometer School of Boston and then went to work for General Electric.

Marie married the late George Lenihan in 1955 and moved to Peabody where they raised their two children, the late Michael Lenihan and the late Gail Maguire.

Upon the death of her husband George, she went back to work as an office clerk for the city of Salem Police Department.  

Marie married the late Frank Wrigley in 1984 and together they enjoyed many wonderful trips to the Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe, Vt., as well as trips to the Boothbay Harbor area in Maine.

Marie loved to cook using recipes from her extensive collection of cookbooks and from her favorite television cooking shows. She liked to knit and crochet, making many beautiful afghans. She also had a passion for shopping.

She was the sister of the late Doris Crowley and Ernest, Henry “Warren,” and John “Lenny” Doucette. She is survived by her brothers and sisters, Richard Doucette and his wife Mary of Lynn, Donald Doucette and his wife Diane of Peabody, Mary Gladys Doucette of Lynn, Shirley Bradley of Breckenridge, Colo., June Tiernan and her husband Robert of Dedham, and Lorraine Akins and her husband Richard of Lynn. She is also survived by her step-son, Michael Wrigley of Danvers.

Service information: Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 9:30 until 11 a.m. at the CONWAY, CAHILL-BRODEUR Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by her funeral service at 11 a.m. at the funeral home to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial services will be private. In lieu of flowers, friends and family can do random acts of kindness in her honor.
