LYNN — Carmela T. “Millie” (Francullo) Costantini, 101, of Lynn, died on Thursday, February 14th at her home in Lynn. She was the wife of the late Balilla P. “Poppy” Costantini with whom she shared 57 years of marriage.
Millie was born in Swampscott, the daughter of the late Ralph and Antoinetta (Marturano) Francullo. She was raised and educated in Lynn and graduated from Lynn English High School in 1936. In her early years, Millie was an active member of Holy Family Church in Lynn where she shared her beautiful singing voice in the choir. She even sang on the radio once. After her marriage, she was an active member of Our Lady of the Assumption Parish in Lynnfield. Millie was an accomplished seamstress and made many suits, coats and other items for her family. She worked for several years at My Square Lady in Lynnfield and later Danvers. Millie moved to Sun City, Ariz. with her husband in 1986 and lived there for many happy years until his death in 2003. She then moved back to Lynn in 2005 and lived with her daughter Maria until her death.
Millie was best known for being a funny, devoted family oriented wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She loved to spend time with her family and friends cooking for them and entertaining in her home.
Millie is survived by her two daughters Maria A. Costantini of Lynn and her longtime companion, William H. McCarthy, Jr., of Lynn; and Diana L. DiPaolo and her husband, Robert of Middleton; and her cherished grandchildren David L. DiPaolo and his wife, Elizabeth and Stephen P. DiPaolo. She is also survived by her dear sister Gloria Gambale of Nevada (formerly of Swampscott) and the late Michael, Nicholas, and Alfred Francullo, Eleanor Reppucci and Christina Pappa and she was the aunt of many nieces and nephews.
Service information: Visitation will be held on Monday, February 25th, 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the CUFFE-McGINN FUNERAL HOME, 157 Maple Street, Lynn, MA followed at 11 a.m. by a Funeral Mass in Holy Family Church, Lynn. Burial will follow in Swampscott Cemetery, Swampscott.
