PEABODY — Doris (LeBlanc) Bourgeois, 93, of Peabody, formerly of Lynn, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 24 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers. Doris was the beloved wife of the late Raymond Bourgeois, with whom she shared 60 years of marriage.
She was the loving mother of the late Paul Bourgeois and mother-in-law of Sheryl Bourgeois of Lynn, the cherished grandmother of Tommy Bourgeois and his fiancé, Catie Geary and Eric Bourgeois and his wife, Leah, all of Lynn; the dear sister of Irene Melanson of Lynn, her late brothers, Arthur, Alfred, Tony, Robert, Edward “Figgy,” Edgar and Raymond LeBlanc, and late sisters, Yvonne Ostrowsky, Corinne Serino, and Rita Bison; and the adored aunt of many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Born in Lynn, Doris was the devoted daughter of the late Maxime and Locade (Goguen) LeBlanc. She graduated from St. Jean the Baptiste High School in Lynn with the Class of ’43.
She worked at the former Lynn Hospital for 30 years as a switchboard operator and a ward secretary until her retirement in 1986.
Doris was a member of the former St. Jean the Baptiste Parish in Lynn and Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Lynnfield. Doris enjoyed “high stakes” bowling in leagues at the Metro Bowl in Peabody and other venues with her family and friends including her late husband, Raymond and sister, Irene. Doris enjoyed watching sports, especially college football, the Patriots, Red Sox and local softball. She also liked scratch tickets and circle word puzzles. Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandsons, Tommy and Eric overnight at her home, and would take them to Prince Pizza, and Friendly’s among other places.
Service information: Visiting hours will be held at the CUFFE-McGINN Funeral Home, 157 Maple St., Lynn, on Monday, Oct. 29 from 4-7 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 7 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial of Doris’ ashes will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 31 at 1 p.m. in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
