SILVER LAKE, N.H. — Marilyn “Lynn” (Sheehan) Wheelock, 77, of Silver Lake, N.H., passed away peacefully on July 11, 2018, after complications and failing health due to Alzheimer’s at Wolfeboro Bay in Wolfeboro, N.H.
Born on September 4, 1940, in Lynn, M.A., she was immediately adopted by Mildred and Jerry Sheehan, along with her biological brother, Norman, and they were given a wonderful childhood on Windsor Avenue in Lynn. She attended Lynn English High School, where her nickname was “Red,” and graduated in 1958. She married Robert Wheelock on September 2, 1961, and together they raised three children on Chisholm Road in Kingston, N.H. They divorced in 1981, and she went on to work at various jobs, including The Ships Wheel in Nottingham, N.H., and Hampstead Hospital in Hampstead, N.H., where she made lifelong friends. Her love of gardening made any place that she lived look like better homes and gardens. She began her own cleaning business and would befriend the elderly folks that she cleaned for, bringing them salads, snacks, and sweets. She was known for her outgoing friendly, kind, and caring ways. In 1987 she discovered and met her biological siblings, which she never realized she had, when a sister, Joan Driscoll, came searching for her. It was a whirlwind of “catch up!” In 2002 she was involved in a horrific head-on automobile accident on Route 125 in Barrington, N.H., in which all 4 people in the other vehicle were killed on impact. She spent a significant amount of time in hospitals and rehab facilities undergoing numerous operations. She was forced to retire and was able to enjoy some traveling.
She was predeceased by her adoptive parents, Mildred and Jerry Sheehan, as well as her biological parents, Augustus and Zelma Fitzgerald. Also her brother, Norman Sheehan, brother, Robert Montgomery, sister, Joan Driscoll, as well as former husband, Bob Wheelock, and her dear nephew, Scott Sheehan.
She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Buffelli, of Silver Lake, N.H., son, Brian Wheelock and wife Sung, of Sandown, N.H., son, Gary Wheelock and wife Kathy, of Melrose, grandsons Kyle Buffelli of Silver Lake, N.H., Michael Eno of Sandown, N.H., Ryan and Kevin Wheelock of Melrose, M.A., sister Audrey Emmons of Derry, N.H., sister Francine Cook of North Stratford, N.H., sister-in-law Adele Raskin of Peabody, along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She also leaves behind lifelong special friends Pam and Bill McDill of Exeter, N.H., Margaret and Ron Simone of Naples, Fla., Al and Joyce Henson of Epping, N.H., Pat Carrier of Winter Haven, Fla., and Loretta White of Idaho.
The family would like to thank special friend, Lu Feci, of Rochester, N.H., as well as the wonderful home caregivers of Abundant Blessings of Sanbornville, N.H., for their help in keeping Lynn at home in Silver Lake for as long as possible. They would also like to thank the wonderful nurses and staff at Wolfeboro Bay for their excellent and compassionate care during this difficult journey.
