LYNN — Marion Beatrice (Prescott) Walker, a lifelong resident of Lynn, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 6th, 2018 at Rosewood Nursing Home in Peabody at the age of 95 surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Alexander “Sandy” Walker, her high school sweetheart, with whom she shared 61 years of marriage.
Born in Saugus on Sept. 13, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Edith (Hatton) Prescott. She was raised and educated in Lynn. She graduated from Lynn English High School in 1940.
She was a volunteer cooking instructor at the Girls Club of Lynn for several years while she raised her family. She was a member of the Marblehead Women’s Club for many years where she met her best “Wednesday lady friends” weekly for shopping, dancing, lunching and movie excursions. She enjoyed taking ceramics classes, reading, crossword puzzles and coloring long before it became so trendy!
She was known for her quick wit, her honest opinion, her amazing memory but most of all for her steadfast love and devotion to her family who will miss her greatly.
She is survived by her devoted daughters, Nancy Lauzon and her husband Roger of Peabody and Sandra Votano and her husband William of Lynn; and her beloved son, Ronald Walker of Billerica; her loving grandchildren, Jill Votano-Sharpe and her husband William of Rowley, Robin Farrell and her husband Liam of Burlington, Vt., Barry Lauzon of Peabody, Jodi Votano of Lynn, Kyle and Caden Walker of Franklin Lakes, N.J.; her cherished great-grandchildren, Alexander and Ella Prescott Sharpe of Rowley; her sister, Elcena Calder of Lynn; her sister-in-law, Barbara Walker of Searsport, Maine, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Doris Hardenbrook and brothers Robert, Charles, Richard and William Prescott.
Service information: Her funeral service will be held on Thursday at 6 p.m. in the SOLIMINE Funeral Home, 426 Broadway (Route 129), Lynn. Burial will be private.
