Dr. Roger Allen Richardson passed on April 28 with his family at his side, surrounded by love and peace.
Dedicating his life’s work to helping people, Roger studied at Colby College and earned a PhD in Psychology from Louisiana State University. He spent the majority of his professional career caring for patients at the Institute of Mental Health in Cranston, R.I. He also briefly taught at the University of Rhode Island and worked in a private counseling practice as well.
He loved his family, studying his genealogical roots, playing the piano, gardening, the outdoors, LSU football, and the New England Patriots.
Son of the late Earl and Margaret Richardson of Lynn, Roger leaves behind his wife, Janice Richardson of North Kingstown, R.I.; his first wife, the late Donna Dullea Richardson of Warwick, R.I.; his brother, David Richardson and his wife Margie of Essex; and five children, Susan Richardson of Providence, R.I., Jeffrey Richardson of Providence, R.I., Julie Richardson of Providence, R.I., Kevin Richardson and his wife Leia of Reading, and Ryan Richardson of Providence, R.I. He leaves behind grandchildren Heather, Jessica, Chandra, Kai, and Phineas, among many great-grandchildren and nephews.
Service information: His funeral will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the SOLIMINE Funeral Home, 426 Broadway (Route 129), Lynn. Burial will follow in Willow Cemetery, Lynnfield. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
