NEWBURYPORT — Mrs. Fotini (Gioulafentis) Georgenes, 96 years, of Newburyport, died Thursday, Aug. 3, 2017 of natural causes at her home with her family by her side. She was the wife of the late Peter Georgenes, for 54 years and the daughter of the late Dimitris and Konstandina Gioulafentis.
She was born and raised in Greece, Fotini moved to the United States in 1958, where she resided in Salem the majority of her life.
Mrs. Georgenes was a longtime member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church. She enjoyed cooking for her family, gardening and knitting for friends and family.
Fotini leaves behind her son, George Georgenes of Newburyport; her daughter, Stella Hummel and her grandson Christopher Hummel of Kirkland, Wash. She is also survived by her sisters, Angeliki Gioulafentis, Annoula Dimakopouklos and Georgia Kalogeropoulos. She was the sister of the late Panagiota and Nikos Gioulafentis.
Service information: Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2017 at 11 a.m. in St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 54 South Common St., Lynn. Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday in St. George Greek Orthodox Church from 9-11 a.m., prior to her service.
