IPSWICH — Earle Frederick Carpenter Sr., of Ipswich, formerly of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., passed away on Saturday, June 3, 2017 in the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital at the age of 92.
Born in Peabody on July 26, 1924, he was the son of the late Frederick R. and Myrtle (Parker) Carpenter. Earle was born, raised and educated in Peabody.
After school, he went to work with Southeast Beverage Corp. where he eventually became a branch manager.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Susan M. (Gibson) Carpenter. He retired to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., where he spent many years of enjoyment. He served at one time as the vice president of the North Miami Lions Club. Earle eventually came back to Massachusetts, settling in Ipswich.
Earle is survived by his son, Robert F. Carpenter of Raymond, N.H.; and his grandchildren, Lynn White of Worcester, Sarah Carpenter of Lynn, Ruth Carpenter of Maine, Robert Carpenter of Raymond, N.H., and Christopher Carpenter of New Hampshire, as well as four great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Earle was preceded in death by his son, Earle F. “Ted” Carpenter Jr., as well as his siblings, Raymond F. Carpenter, Shirley Carpenter, and Anna L. Carpenter.
Service information: A funeral service will be held in the CUFFE-MCGINN Funeral Home, 157 Maple St., Lynn, on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
