Ann V. Serino, 90

Mrs. Ann V. (Titolo) Serino, age 90, died at her home on Wednesday, July 1. She was the wife of the late James Serino.

Born and raised in Danvers, she was the daughter of the late Carlo and Santina Titolo. Mrs. Serino lived in Saugus for more than 65 years.

She is survived by her three children, Michael Serino, Paul Serino and Stacy Serino, all of Saugus. Mrs. Serino is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Ann’s memory to the Alzheimers Association @ www.alz.org.

PEABODY — Carole E. (Gregory) Hunt, 85, of Peabody, beloved wife of Robert F. Hunt, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2020 after a brief illness, surrounded by loving family.

Born in Marblehead, she was the daughter of the late James and Mildred (Marston) Gregory. She was educated in the Lynn Public Schools and graduated from Lynn English High School, Class of 1952.

A resident of Peabody for the past 58 years, Carole was a Life Master in the American Contract Bridge League, a talented knitter, gifted baker and fabulous cook. She loved going dancing with her husband and their trips to Foxwoods and Twin River casinos. Carole was an avid Boston sports fan, especially fond of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. She adored the “Ann & Hope Girls,” her beloved group of best friends. Her main focus was always her family who she devoted her life to. She was a loving wife, mother, nana, gigi and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her husband of 62 years, she is also survived by her daughters, Susan E. Beaudoin and her boyfriend Mike Hannan of Tyngsboro, Cindy Sauve and her husband Gary of Methuen; a son, Jeffrey Hunt and his wife Crystal of New Hampshire; 14 grandchildren, Kristin Bernier and her husband Michael, Nicole Sauve, Stephanie Joyce and her husband Tommy, Matthew Beaudoin and his wife Amanda, Lauren and Kyle Beaudoin, Dan and Leigh Ann Hunt, Amanda, Cameron, Erin, Robbie, John and Troy Hunt; four great-grandchildren, Marcellus and Kassius Bernier, Nora Joyce and Louie Hunt. She also leaves behind several special nieces and nephews. Carole was predeceased by her son Gregory R. Hunt, her sisters, Hope M. Burke and Norma L. Flude, her brother Bruce Gregory and her granddaughter Cathleen Hunt.

Service information: Her funeral service will be held at the CONWAY, CAHILL-BRODEUR Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at 11 a.m. A visitation will take place at the funeral home Wednesday morning prior to the service from 9:30-10:45 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. LYNN — Eileen MacDonald, 93, of Lynn, passed Monday, June 29, 2020 to be rejoined with her late husband of 57 years Joseph MacDonald.

Born in Revere to the late Walter and Ellen (Shea) Murphy, Eileen has lived in Lynn for many years. She was self-employed as an interior decorator and consultant. Her other passion was working with various charitable organizations. Eileen is the past president of the Guild of Saint William at St. John’s Prep in Danvers, as well as a 25-year-plus volunteer at St. John’s Prep. 

She is survived by her son Kevin MacDonald of Lynn, son Frank Lau and his wife Joanna of Seattle, Wash.; her grandson Damien Lau and his wife Michelle; her great-grandchildren Myha and Russell, and her niece Norma Jean Giroux of New Hampshire. She was predeceased by her five siblings.

SAUGUS — Patricia M. (O’Hagan) Anderson, age 76, of Saugus and formerly of Lynn, died on Thursday, July 2, 2020 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, surrounded by her loving family. 

Born in Lynn in 1944, she was the daughter of the late James and Helen (Godlewski) O’Hagan. She was raised and educated in Lynn and has lived in Saugus for the past 20 years. Patricia enjoyed trips to the casino, barbecues, bingo and spending time with her family, her best friend and “sister” Andrea Reddy and her family and her beloved cat Mikey.

She was the loving mother of Tammy L. (O’Hagan) Palomino and her husband Walter of Revere and Robert D. O’Hagan of Saugus; grandmother of P Jay Fleury and his wife Nicole, Gianna D. Palomino and Cassandra O’Hagan; great-grandmother of Alexia, Aubrey and Alexander and “sister” of Andrea Reddy and her husband Tom along with her many nieces, nephews and dear friends. She was predeceased by her parents, her son William J. Anderson Jr. and her former husband William J. Anderson Sr.

Service information: A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 in the SOLIMINE Funeral Home, 426 Broadway (Route 129), Lynn, at 12 p.m. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery. ORANGE — Mr. Sean P. Hickey, age 35, of Orange, formerly of Saugus, passed away on Monday, June 29 after a long battle with Lymphoblastic Leukemia. He was the husband of Crystal A. (Clarke) Hickey.

Born in Bremerhaven, Germany on the U.S. Army base, and raised in Saugus, he was the son of Timothy Hickey and the late Laurie (Doyle) Hickey. Mr. Hickey was a manager at Walmart in Danvers. He had a passion for video games, but more than anything loved playing with his children.

In addition to his wife and father, Mr. Hickey is survived by his four children, Dustin, Izzabella, Nicholas and Jaxen; his brother Andrew Hickey and his wife Rebecca of Saugus; his grandfather Lawrence Doyle of Saugus; and many aunts, uncles, a niece, a nephew and many cousins.

SWAMPSCOTT — Marie C. (Nevils) Galvin, age 86, of Swampscott, died Thursday in Salem Hospital. 

Born in Swampscott, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Nora (Broderick) Nevils. She was raised in Swampscott and was a graduate of Swampscott High School. Marie had lived in New Hampshire for many years prior to returning to Swampscott 20 years ago.

After graduating from Katie Gibbs School Marie worked as a secretary for a law office in Boston. She had a love for the outdoors and called sailing, golf, skiing and tennis some of her favorite activities. She also enjoyed sewing, knitting, watching sports (especially Patriots football) and “Dancing With the Stars.” Her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Colleen Galvin of Wakefield; three sons, Richard and Amy Galvin of Richmond, Va., Jack and Jennifer Galvin of Eliot, Maine, and Daniel and estranged wife Sarah Galvin of Silly, Belgium; as well as her grandchildren, David Galvin, Claire Galvin, Morgan Fuqua, Anna Galvin, Kathryn “Rylee” Galvin and Joshua Galvin. She was the mother of the late Donald Galvin, and the sister of the late John and Timothy Nevils.

Service information: A funeral Mass at St. John the Evangelist Church will be private. LYNN — Dominic J. “Primo” Tavernese Jr., age 81, of Lynn, died on Sunday, July 5, 2020, at Salem Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Linda (Goss) Tavernese, with whom he shared 37 years of marriage.

Born in Arlington, he was the son of the late Dominic and Yolanda (Macri) Tavernese. He was proud to have been raised in the “Brickyard” section of Lynn and was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School, Class of 1959. He had worked for 15 years as a housing manager for the Lynn Housing Authority.

Dominic was a friend of Bill W. for 29 years and was an advocate for and sponsor of many others in recovery. He and his wife loved to travel all over the world, and he especially enjoyed his 22 trips to Italy.

He is survived by his siblings, Joseph Tavernese and his wife Norma of Rochester, N.H., Rosalie Tavernese, Theresa Tavernese, Annette Fountain, and Salvatore Tavernese and his wife Debra), all of Peabody; as well as a sister-in-law, Barbara Tavernese of Peabody; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was also the brother of the late Thomas Tavernese, John Tavernese, Jean Archung and Mary Bumbaca.

LYNN — Eveline (Garnier) Garraud, age 78, of Lynn, died Sunday in Massachusetts General Hospital. She was the wife of the late Deberle Garraud. 

Born and raised in Haiti, she was the daughter of Sireaque Garnier and Odette Civil. She had lived in Lynn since coming to the United States in 1988.

Eveline devoted her life to her family and helping others. She was the foundation and the matriarch of her family. A devoted mother and grandmother who would do anything for her family. She raised all her children with love and instilled a great sense of faith in them. She loved to cook and entertain her family and friends.

She is survived by her eight children, Erlande Noel, Philippe Garraud, Ronald Garraud, Heber Garraud, Dadel Garraud, Bertine Garraud, Magdalah Wesh, Wilnie Petrash; and 14 grandchildren.

Soterios A. Angelopoulos, 92

LYNN — Soterios A. “Terry” Angelopoulos, 92, beloved husband of the late Dorothy A. (Mavrakos) Angelopoulos and father of the late Dawn Angelopoulos, died Saturday, July 4, 2020 at home surrounded by his loving family.

Born and raised in Peabody, he was the son of the late Anthony and Evangeline (Bentas) Angelopoulos. He graduated from Peabody High School and earned a bachelor’s degree from Suffolk University in Boston.

An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country as a member of the United States Air Force.

Mr. Angelopoulos had been employed for many years as an office manager for Stadium Oil in Peabody until the time of his retirement.

A longtime resident of Lynn, he was a member of St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church in Peabody. He had a heart of gold, a young spirit and touched the hearts of all who knew him. He was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan but his greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family. He was a loving father, grandfather, uncle and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Surviving him are three daughters, Gail Amico of Lynn, Sharon Anderson and her husband, George of Rowley and Sheryl Sholds and her husband, Richard of Peabody; a son, Mark Angelopoulos and his wife, Diane of Beverly; a son-in-law, Michael Cusack of Boxford; 12 grandchildren, Kristen, Brandon and Brent Amico, Devin and Brianna Anderson, Kayla, Michael and Kristina Sholds and Mikayla, Kylie, Alexis and Connor Cusack; his goddaughter, Donna Dube of Topsfield; and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Constance Ahearn, Gregory Angelopoulos, John Angelopoulos, Elizabeth Vorrias and Marcella Corbett.

LYNN — Marion F. Riley, of Lynn, died peacefully at her home on Monday, July 6, 2020 following a lengthy illness. 

She was the daughter of the late Frank E. and Marion L. (Meade) Riley Sr. Born in Lynn, Marion was a graduate of Mount St. Joseph Academy in Brighton as well as Regis College. A lifelong resident of Lynn, she was a longtime teacher and educator for several school systems, including 20 years for the Lynn School Department. She was a member of the Teachers Association of Massachusetts and a former member of the Sisters of St. Joseph. 

Marion is survived by her brother Rev. James Riley of Lynn; several nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews and cousins. She was the sister of the late Atty. Frank E. Riley Jr. and Atty. Richard M. Riley. 

Service information: A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 10, 2020 at 1 p.m. in St. Joseph Cemetery, 154 Broadway, Lynn. LYNNFIELD — Martha (Brennan) Hossack, age 91, passed away peacefully at The Sawtelle Hospice House in Reading on July 6, 2020 surrounded by her daughters. She was the beloved wife of the late Ret. Lieutenant Robert A. Hossack of the Lynn Fire Department. 

She was predeceased by her parents, Clarence F. Brennan and Faye (Blenkhorn) Brennan of Marblehead, and her sisters, Faye Miller of Marblehead and Dorothy Gillis of Manchester-by-the-Sea. She leaves behind her daughter Joanne Corsetti and son-in-law, Ken Corsetti of Lynn, her daughter Nancy Miles and son-in-law, John Miles of Lynn, and her daughter Beth Hossack of Plaistow, N.H. She also leaves behind several grandchildren, Nathan Miles and wife Alice of Ashland, Jodie Driscoll and husband Mark of Lynnfield, Jessica Dormady and husband AJ of Peabody, Brian Corsetti and wife Sara of Reading, Robert Miles and wife Kayleigh of Haverhill, Andrew Adamo and wife Ali of Plaistow, N.H., and Melanie Macaro and husband Dave of Haverhill. Martha loved spending time with family, especially her 10 great-grandchildren, Brendan and Connor Driscoll, Evan and Cameron Corsetti, Nixon Adamo, Evie and Seamus Dormady, Ani Miles, and Jack and Willow Miles. Martha also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and their families.

Martha was born in Marblehead in 1929, where she grew up and graduated from Marblehead HS. Martha enjoyed gardening, cooking and was an avid reader. She spent many winters with friends in Hobe Sound, Fla. She loved spending time with her family and will be missed by all.

Nelson Alvarez, 55

LYNN — Nelson Alvarez was born in Miami, Fla., on Nov. 23, 1964. He passed away at his home in Lynn on June 28, 2020, at the age of 55.

He was a son of the late Felix Alvarez. For more than 30 years Nelson worked at Soloman Metal Corporation and he worked other various jobs throughout his life. It suited his servant heart to work long hours and he did it because he wanted to provide for his family. He treasured his children and embraced every moment with them. He was a generous and kind person. Nelson enjoyed riding his bike to the beach, cooking, listening to music and collecting memorabilia and antiques. Nelson, a son, a brother, a father and a friend, will be deeply missed by his loved ones and friends.

Nelson leaves behind his children LaDonna Flynn, Nathaniel and June Evans; his mother Juana Alvarez; his sisters, Margarita Ferrari, Nulinda Garcia and Nancy Grullon; his brothers Roberto and Jose Alvarez; as well as his close companion Marlene Romero. All of these he loved and touched deeply.

MEREDITH, N.H. — Cheryl Ann Marion, age 62, of Meredith, N.H., born on Aug. 14, 1957, who was formerly from Lynn, entered into rest on June 25, 2020. She was the beloved wife of Frederick Marion, with whom she shared 34 years of marriage. 

She was the daughter of the late Ernest Griffin and Florence Griffin (Libby). She leaves behind two sons, George Marion and Paul Marion of New Hampshire with two grandsons Mathew and Anthony Marion of New Hampshire. She was also the beloved sister of Madeline Gendron and her husband Terrance Gendron of Lynn, Joseph Griffin and his wife Jannet Griffin of Lynn, and Richard Griffin and his wife Paula Griffin of Salem. She leaves a brother-in-law, Frank Marion behind as well. She also leaves many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews behind, and was loved by all.

Cheryl’s favorite thing was to watch and support her all-time favorite football team, the New England Patriots. Cheryl enjoyed listening to music, dancing, spending time with loved ones, and partying with friends and family.

Priscilla Corcoran Oates, 79

LYNN — Priscilla Corcoran Oates, age 79, of Lynn, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, July 13, 2020 with her family. 

A lifelong resident of Lynn, Priscilla was the cherished daughter of the late Michael B. “Mickey” and Dorothy M. (Kane) Corcoran. She attended Lynn schools and was a graduate of St. Mary Girls High School, Class of 1959.

Priscilla worked at the General Electric Turbine Division in Lynn for many years. She most recently worked at Harvard Pilgrim Health Care in the legal office until her retirement in 2008.

She was an active communicant of Sacred Heart Parish in Lynn, and served as the secretary of the Sacred Heart St. Vincent dePaul Society. She was a member of the Sacred Heart “Knotty Knitters” group and the LAOH, Division 10, Lynn.  

Priscilla was a devoted mother, adored grandmother and dear sister. She is survived by her daughter, Donna M. Brown of Lynn; and her grandson, Ethan J. Brown and his fiancé Kelsey Nielsen of New Market, N.H. Sister of Margaret J. Wilson of Franklin, N.H., Michael B. Corcoran Jr. of Lynn, Lawrence E. Corcoran of Lynn, and the late Richard J. and Carolyn Corcoran and William T. and Kathleen Corcoran. Also survived and will be missed by countless family and friends.

Priscilla was a true example of love, strength, kindness and class.

Devoted mother of the late Valery Gorbulev. Cherished grandmother of Irina Romanova, great-grandmother of Michael and Ilya Romanov. Dear daughter of the late Naum and Ita Pustovaytovsky. 

Taisa received her Ph.D. and became a radiologist. She was a loving and caring mother. She loved life and was strong spirited.

Leo W. Frechette, 70

LYNN — Leo W. Frechette, 70, of Lynn, passed away on April 18, 2020 in Saugus after a long illness. 

He was born on May 9, 1950 to the late Earl F. Frechette and Lorraine (Doane) Frechette. He attended Lynn schools. After high school he joined the U.S. Army and was deployed to Panama and Korea. He was employed for many years at Lynn Ladder. He loved to spend his spare time fishing  and camping. 

He is survived  by his children, Leo Frechette Jr. and daughter-in-law Mary of Virginia; daughter, Heather Frechette of Lynn; his sister, Suzanne (Frechette) Caliri of Florida; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Earl Frechette Jr. of North Carolina.

Shirley Rhodes

Shirley Scott Johnston Rhodes passed away peacefully at the Concordia nursing home in Fayetteville, Ga., on July 8. 

Shirley was born on Jan. 19, 1933 in Oakland, Maine. She was the daughter of the late Norman Scott and Della Perkins. Shirley grew up in Waterville, Maine, before moving to Lynn, where she raised her family. She made her home in Jonesboro, Ga., for the past 30 years.

She was a talented seamstress. She created many beautiful formal dresses, costumes, clothing pieces and sewing crafts for her family and friends. She was an avid reader, loved animals and listening to music. Her favorite songs to listen to were from Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash. She was the happiest when surrounded by her family.

She is survived by her sons Ralph Johnston and wife Marleen of Senoia, Ga., Wayne Johnston and wife Linda of Port Orange, Fla., Scott Johnston and wife Sheila of Jonesboro, Ga., Mark Johnston and wife Wendy of Lynn; daughters Debbie Marengi of Salisbury, Liz Marengi of Salisbury, Kelly Ekstrom and husband William of Lynn; stepdaughter Kathleen Rhodes of Sharpsburg, Ga.; sister Arlene Rowe of Glenburn, Maine; 20 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Robert Rhodes, brothers Norman Scott, Carl Scott, sisters Christine Maloney and Gloria Dodge, her son-in-law Terrence Marengi, and great-grandson Walker Marengi.

Gerald R. Peloquin, 82

PEABODY — Mr. Gerald R. Peloquin, 82 years, of Peabody, died on Tuesday, July 14, 2020 in North Shore Medical Center, Salem Hospital after a long illness. He was the husband of the late Mary Lou (Sullivan) Peloquin, and longtime partner of Nancy E. Hanlon of Peabody. 

He was born in Fall River, the son of the late Paul and Melina (Simonin) Peloquin. He was raised in Fall River and was a graduate of Durfee High School, Class of 1957. Gerald lived in Malden and Lynn and the past nine years in Peabody. 

Jerry was a veteran of the Army National Guard. He was a member of the union at the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Boston Cemetery. He was employed as a foreman and groundskeeper at the Catholic Cemeteries in Lynn and Malden. 

Jerry loved to eat, especially breakfast. He enjoyed Boston sports, the Bruins, Celtics, Patriots and Red Sox, he enjoyed Foxwoods and jigsaw puzzles. Most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren and family trips.

In addition to his partner, Nancy, he is survived by his daughters Michelle E. Bernard of Reading and Kelly A. Ouellette of Danvers; his grandchildren Michael Bernard of Saugus, Courtney and Jacob Ouellette of Danvers. He also leaves his children from a previous marriage, Donna, Diane, Jerry and Michael. He leaves his brother Larry Peloquin and his wife Arlene of Port Richie, Fla.; and his sister Helen Hainois of Attleboro and brother of the late Paul R. Peloquin.

Service information: Visiting hours are on Saturday, July 18, 2020 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the SOLIMINE Funeral Home, 426 Broadway (Route 129), Lynn. Funeral Mass and burial will be private. Gary A. Moore, 62

NASHUA, N.H. — Gary Alan Moore, 62, of Nashua, N.H., passed away Saturday, July 11, 2020 due to complications from Leukemia. 

He was born on Oct. 17, 1957 to parents Bradford and Barbara (Lutz) Moore in Dorchester. Gary went to elementary and high school in Swampscott, and went on to graduate from Bunker Hill Community College in Boston and Westfield State University in Westfield. 

He worked at Digital Equipment Corporation and BEA Systems in the computer industry, and eventually went on to be self-employed at Top Gun Computer Systems. While self-employed, he also worked per diem at Acapella Technologies.

Gary’s passion was hockey. When he wasn’t in the goalie net himself, he was an assistant coach for the Souhegan High School and Merrimack High School boy’s hockey teams. 

Besides Gary’s parents, he was predeceased by his niece, Jamie Moore, and his brother-in-law, Bob Williams.

Gary is survived by his wife Marilyn Moore; daughter Melissa and her husband Doug Sack, daughter Emily Moore; sisters Susan Williams and Leslie Sarno; brother Brian and his wife Rozy Moore; and many nieces and nephews. 

Gary’s dark sense of humor and witty comments will be missed and remembered by family and friends.

MARBLEHEAD — Irene M. (Dion) Butler of Marblehead passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, July 13, 2020. Irene was raised and educated in Lynn and Swampscott. She was a graduate of Lynn English High School. After high school Irene worked in the office at Cushman’s Bakery in Lynn. Irene married Robert L Butler and they had four children together. She was a loving wife and mother. They recently celebrated their 70th Wedding Anniversary on June 25, 2020. Irene was the daughter of the late Walter M. and Alice (Birmingham) Dion. After having her second child Irene stayed home to care for her children. She and her husband invested in real estate together; they acquired several properties. Irene did all the administrative work including the financial matters while her husband took care of the day to day activities. They were a team right up to the end. In addition to all the bookwork, Irene took the kids to dance class, guitar lessons, the YMCA, Girls’ Club, little league, band practice, etc. They both worked hard throughout the years.

Irene loved to read, entertain, play cards, shop, work in her garden, and cook. She enjoyed cooking for the entire family at her house for the holidays, especially Thanksgiving and Christmas. She also loved to decorate for the holidays especially Christmas. Christmas was her favorite holiday. She loved buying gifts for everyone at Christmas and expected nothing in return. Irene also loved to dance. She and her husband enjoyed many dinner dances at the Gerry V in Marblehead. Irene enjoyed exercising and walking the beach with her daughter.

In addition to her loving husband, Irene is survived by her daughters; Cynthia Croteau, Maureen Ozoonian and her husband Gregory; her son, Michael Butler and his partner Carol McHugh, her daughter-in-law Lisa Butler, five grandchildren; Erin Butler, Jonathan and Matthew Ozoonian, Kristen Brown and her husband Kenneth, Sara Pennell and her husband Michael; her great-grandson, Bentley Butler, as well as four nephews. She was predeceased by her son Robert M. Butler, her brother Walter M. Dion, Jr., and son-in-law Roger J. Croteau, Jr.
