Geraldine G. Mitchell, 79

LYNN — Geraldine “Gerri” Gladys (Cronin) Mitchell, 79, of Peabody, formerly a longtime resident of Lynn, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2019 at her daughter’s home in Boxford surrounded by her loving family. Gerri was the beautiful and beloved wife of Kenneth Mitchell, with whom she shared almost 61 years of marriage.  

Born in Lynn and raised and educated in Saugus, Gerri was the daughter of the late Emile “Ed” and Gladys (Shore) Despres and the late Eugene Cronin. She was a graduate of Saugus High School with the Class of 1957.    

Gerri was the loving mother  of Sue Pietrantonio and her husband, David of E. Kingston, N.H., Karyn Hendrickson and her husband, Ray of Boxford,  Ronald Mitchell and his wife, Kelly of Seabrook, N.H., and Kristen Orlando and her husband, Joseph of E. Kingston, N.H.; the cherished grandmother of  Nicholas and Nathan Pietrantonio, Kevin Hendrickson and his wife, Emma, Scott Mannion and his husband, Brian Mannion, Michael Hendrickson and his partner, Chase Brightwell, Kelsey LaGross and her husband, Jason, Brian Mitchell and his wife, Abigail, Allison Mitchell and Taylor Orlando; the great-grandmother of Aiden, Connor, Kathryn, Lincoln, Colton and Finn; the dear sister of Patricia Joyce and her husband Frederick of Wolfeboro, N.H., and Carolyn Albanese and her husband Robert of Lynn; and the aunt of several nieces and nephews. 

Gerri worked as an accounting assistant at Christian Book Distributors in Peabody for more than  21 years until her retirement in 2000. Gerri attended Calvary Christian Church, Lynnfield and was a past longtime member of the First Assembly of God Church in Lynn. She was a longtime member of the National Precious Moments Collectibles Association and very much enjoyed traveling the world with her husband, Ken, on the Association’s annual cruises, especially to the Mediterranean and the Caribbean. Most of all, she loved spending time with her entire family, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

Service information: Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 10 from 4-8 p.m. at the CUFFE-MCGINN Funeral Home, 157 Maple St., Lynn. Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 11 at 11 a.m. at Calvary Christian Church, Lynnfield, officiated by Rev. Timothy Schmidt. Richard E. Delorey, 79

PEABODY — Richard E. “Dick” Delorey, age 79, of Peabody, passed away on Thursday at his home after a lengthy illness. He was the beloved husband of Rosalie J. (Fraser) Delorey, with whom he shared 36 years of marriage. 

Raised in Swampscott, he was the son of the late Romeo E. Delorey and Elizabeth M. (Theriault) Delorey. He was a graduate of Swampscott High School, Class of 1958 and received his BA in Mathematics from Northeastern University in 1963. He had lived in Chelmsford and Salem for several years before moving to Peabody in 2003.

Dick served in the United States Army as an ADPS Plans and Operations Officer, Seventh Army HQ, Stuttgart, Germany from 1964-1967. He was also a Signal Corps Captain, USAR. He worked for Avco Everett Research Labs from 1960-1968, and then worked as a senior systems analyst at Tufts New England Medical Center from 1968-1978. He worked for Salem State College from 1978-2001, retiring as director of Information Technology. 

Dick was a communicant of St. Adelaide’s Church in Peabody and was also active in Chelmsford Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Little League. He remained very active with the class reunion committees for both Swampscott High School and Northeastern University. He also enjoyed tennis, water skiing, snow skiing, jogging and bicycling as well as traveling to Aruba and other Caribbean Islands, Las Vegas and various national parks.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Derek P. Delorey of Chattaroy, Wash.; his granddaughter, Catherine E. Delorey of Chelmsford; his sister-in-law, Dorothy A. Fraser of Peabody; his former wife, Hannelore (Schmidt) Delorey Kirkpatrick of Carlisle; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Scott Delorey and the brother of the late Constance Delorey Stevens and his step-mother, Ruth (Luby) (Hingston) Delorey.

Service information: His funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9 a.m. from the SOLIMINE Funeral Home, 426 Broadway (Route 129), Lynn, followed by a memorial funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Adelaide’s Church, Peabody. John J. Buchanan III

John Joseph “Mickey” Buchanan III died peacefully Friday afternoon surrounded by his loving family at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of the late Marjorie (O’Brien) Buchanan. 

Born in Lynn on Oct. 12, 1932, he was the son of the late John Jr. and Dora (Livermore) Buchanan. He lived in Lynn for more than 74 years and was a graduate of Lynn Technical High School. He has lived in Peabody for the past 14 years. 

Mickey ended his career working at Eastern Baker’s Supply, delivering and setting up restaurants and most notably the first Dunkin Donuts, before retiring in 1997.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and attended all sporting events, dance recitals, school activities. He was always available for his grandchildren and they were the light of his life, to advise, support, tell stories and love unconditionally. 

He leaves behind his son, John and his wife Paula, of Lynnfield; his daughter, Susan Charbonneau of Peabody; his beloved grandchildren, Meghan and Michael and Fernanda Charbonneau and Lindsey and Adam Buchanan; his great-granddaughter, Ava, and great-grandson, Jorge; his sister, Linda Camick of Lee, N.H.; and by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Louis, Francis, Ralph, Paul and Earl Buchanan.

Service information: His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 12 p.m. at St. John’s Church, Peabody, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. John C. McAskill, 94

John Charles McAskill, age 94, died on Friday, Dec. 6, 2019 at the Blueberry Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility in Beverly. He was the husband of Marjorie C. (Brown) McAskill, with whom he shared 68 years of marriage.

A lifelong resident of Lynn, he was the son of the late Charles and Sophie (Kalinowski) McAskill, he attended Lynn schools and was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School, Class of 1943. 

John was a World War II veteran, serving in the in the Philippines with the U.S. Army from 1943-1946 as an MP in the 86th Infantry Division.

John had worked as a machinist at the GE Riverworks Plant in Lynn until his retirement in 1989. Prior to working for GE he had owned launderettes in Marblehead and Malden.  

He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and a life member of the Knights of Columbus Valladolid Council #70, Lynn.

He is survived by two sons, John W. McAskill and his wife Janet of Lynn, and Paul S. McAskill and his wife Janet of Lynn; and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Edward, Frank, Charles, Herbie, Arthur McAskill and Helen Gillis.

LYNN — Joseph O’Shea, 50, a lifelong resident of Lynn, passed away on Friday, Dec. 6, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. 

Born in Saugus on May 9, 1969 to his beloved parents Roger and Frances (McKenney) O’Shea.

Joe is survived by his loving siblings Shannon O’Shea, Stephen O’Shea and Thomas O’Shea and his wife Judy; his beloved stepchildren, Ashlie and Josh Bradford; his dear niece and nephew, Katie and Stephen O’Shea, Katelyne Ragucci and Sean Winchell; his Aunt Donna Barber and  Uncle Jack McKenney. He also leaves his many cousins and friends.

As an avid fan of the great outdoors, Joe could always be found doing something outside. Whether it was enjoying a relaxing fishing trip while having a couple cold ones or camping at his favorite spots you could find him just enjoying being outside with his family and friends.

Emmanuel P. Mikedis, 84

LYNN — Emmanuel P. “Manny” Mikedis, 84, of Lynn, died Sunday, Dec. 8, 2019, surrounded by his loving family at home, after a long battle with cancer. 

Manny was born and raised in Mirmigki Chios, Greece, to the late Penelope and Panteli Mikedis. He proudly served in the Greek military before moving to Lynn, and lived on the same street for almost 60 years with his beloved wife Betty (Andros) Mikedis.

Manny worked for Old Neighborhood Foods, before owning and operating an Amoco Station in Lynn. After the gas crisis in the late 1970s Manny became a machinist at GE in Lynn, retiring after 28 years. He was an avid gardener, who proudly shared his vegetables and tomatoes to family and friends, and anyone who visited. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. 

Manny is survived by his beloved wife Betty; daughter, Penelope Mikedis, her partner Joyce Benedetto of Lynn and their son Stephanos; son, Peter Mikedis, his wife Stella of Saugus, and their sons Christopher and Andrew Mikedis; his sister, Eleni Psillos and her husband John of Lynn, sister Zafira Papagianakis and her husband Petro of Lynn; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, sister Marianthi Paidousi and her husband Nicholas, brother John Mikedis and his wife Despina, brother Nicholas Mikedis and his wife Evangelo, and sister Harriet Kalogridis and her husband Nicholas.

Marion J. Ruggiero, 87

PEABODY — Marion Jane (Curley) Ruggiero  died peacefully at her home in Peabody at the age of 87 with her family by her side.

Marion is survived by her children, Jane Kingsley and husband David of Tucson, Ariz., Chester McIntire of Exeter, N.H., David McIntire and wife Lisa of Marblehead, and Paul Ruggiero and wife Becky of Eddington, Maine; sister, Sandra Abbott of Lynn; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings Thomas Curley, Robert Curley and Burton Curley.

Marion was born on June 12, 1932 in Melrose to Thomas and Mary Curley. She graduated from Lynn High School in 1950, and lived all her life on the North Shore. Marion will be remembered for her quick wit and her love of cooking, animals and music. In recent years Marion especially enjoyed the companionship of her faithful dog Billy. Marion was a generous individual who fiercely loved her family and treasured the many good times she celebrated with her siblings, children, grandchildren and friends.

The family would like to thank the North Shore Elders for their faithful and consistent care for Marion, and especially her special friend and caregiver, Jean Flynn.

George T. Grilli, 67

LYNN — George T. Grilli, 67, of Lynn, died Friday, Dec. 6 from complications of cancer.

Born in Lynn to the late E.F. Renato and Elda (Angelucci) Grilli, George lived most of his life in Lynn. He was a 1971 graduate of Lynn English High and then received a political science degree from Suffolk University. 

George retired from the Postal Service after working many years as a letter carrier in Reading. Later in life, George returned to Northeastern University and received a second bachelor’s degree in accounting. He was an avid Boston sports fan, especially the Red Sox. George was a devout Catholic and served as an usher at the 7 a.m. Mass at OLA Church in Lynnfield for many years. 

George is survived by his brother, Thomas Grilli and his wife, Judith, of Newmarket, N.H.; his niece, Jacqueline Grilli and nephew, Alexander Grilli, both of California; as well as many cousins.

Diane M. Rock, 68

LYNN — Diane M. Rock, 68, of Lynn, formerly of Wakefield, died on Saturday, Dec. 7 at the Bay Path Nursing Center in Duxbury.

Born in Melrose on Oct. 30, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Josephine (DelRossi) Confalone.

Ms. Rock had been a Lynn resident for the past 40 years.  She was a graduate of Wakefield High School, Class of 1969. Ms. Rock was a retired factory worker for Medtronic in Danvers and Advent in Peabody.

She is survived by her two daughters, Michelle Rock Berry and her husband Jason of Duxbury and Kristen Haught and her husband Tom of Danvers; her three grandchildren, Ariana, John and Benjamin; and her sister, Donna Tibbetts and her husband Dennis of Wakefield.

Peter R. McGovern, 75

PEABODY — Peter R. McGovern, age 75, of Peabody, died peacefully on Saturday at Salem Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Constance “Connie” (Cotter) McGovern, with whom he shared 48 years of marriage.

Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late William and Catherine (Magrane) McGovern. He grew up in the Barry Park neighborhood of West Lynn with his 11 brothers and sisters, and attended Lynn schools. He had lived in Peabody for the past 10 years.

Peter, known as “Rocky,” was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians in Lynn and the Loyal Order of Moose in Salem, and was an avid pool player. He was most proud of his Irish heritage, often using the phrase “McGovern Strong.” Peter enjoyed many cruises with his wife, Connie. He cherished his time spent with his wife, children and grandchildren. He loved spending time with all his relatives. Peter was known for being a hardworking man, devoted to his family. Although he will be greatly missed, he is now at peace with the family members who predeceased him. He would not want his loved ones to grieve for him.

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his two sons, Toby McGovern of Virginia and Peter R. McGovern Jr. and his wife Jill of Norwood; three grandchildren, Skylar Manning of Portland, Maine, and Tylor and Destinee Hughes of Peabody; his sister, Carol Ann Couillard and her husband Ronald of Florida; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Mary Petrillo and her late husband Frank of Lynn, Brian Cotter and his wife Pam of North Carolina, Connie McGovern of Peabody, Leone McGovern of Kansas and Thomas Montgomery of Saugus; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter Traci McGovern, his brothers William “Buddy,” James, Thomas, Bernard, John Paul and Francis McGovern, and his sisters Mary “Tootsie” Ulatowski, Adeline Newhall, Margaret “Peggy” Mathes and Joan Montgomery.

Leonard F. Perry, 84

Leonard F. Perry, age 84, died Saturday, Nov. 30, in hospice care. 

Len was born in Lynn to Doris (Rogers) and Leonard Perry, and graduated from Lynn English High School in 1954 continuing his studies at Essex Agricultural School majoring in Floriculture. 

In 1956 he joined the U.S. Marine Corps and served in Washington, D.C. and Jakarta, Indonesia as an embassy security guard attaining the rank of corporal before his discharge in 1960. 

In 1961 he married Marguerite Vielbig of Manchester-by-the-Sea and they had four children: Anne, John, Marie and Joseph who died shortly after birth. Residing in Rowley, then Danvers (where Leonard was caretaker of the Historical Society’s Endicott Estate) and Georgetown, Leonard was employed by Essex Aggie, Curran’s Flowers and Hogan Regional Center, Danvers. After retirement Len was owner/president of Perry’s Flowers Inc. in Georgetown where he and Marguerite lived and raised their children, flowers, dogs, cats, rabbits, chickens, swans, geese and fish. Leonard was an avid outdoorsman and nature lover.

Leonard leaves his wife Marguerite; daughter, Anne Nettles (Mrs. James) of Lady’s Island, S.C.; son, John and his wife Mary of Plum Island, and daughter, Marie Waitkevich; as well as brothers, Fred and Bruce; sisters, Elaine Jordan and Dottie Johnson; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister, Judith Doughty.

LYNN — Mary Josephine (MacDonald) McCarey, 89, of Lynn, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Dec. 8, 2019. 

A lifelong resident of Lynn, Mary was born on July 22, 1930 to the late Leo J. and Mary J. (O’Connell) MacDonald. Mary was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School, Class of 1948, where she enjoyed playing the organ during Mass at St. Mary’s Church. Following high school, Mary furthered her education by graduating from the Chandler School for Women and Salem State University. She had a passion for knitting and animals, especially her beloved pets.

She was the cherished mother of Mary J. Spencer of Lynn; the adored grandmother of Elicia, Taylor, Matthew and Mara; the dear sister to Dr. Leo J. MacDonald and his late wife Elizabeth of Westwood; the mother-in-law of Lisa Zukowski of Salem, N.H.; and the aunt of one niece and five nephews. In addition to her parents, Mary is predeceased by her son, John A. Zukowski.

Mary T. Johnson, 86

LYNN — Mary Teresa (Doyle) Johnson, 86, of Lynn, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 8, 2019, after a courageous battle with a lengthy illness with her loving family by her side. She was the devoted wife of Donald E. Johnson.

Mary was born on Dec. 29, 1932 to the late Thomas J. and Anna A. (Tobin) Doyle. She was a lifelong resident of Lynn and graduate of Braintree High School with the Class of 1950. After graduation, Mary went on to work for Liberty Mutual in their Worcester office as a clerk. Following her employment at Liberty Mutual, Mary began working for GE where she met the love of her life, Donald, with whom she shared 63 years of marriage. 

She was a kind, gentle soul who was generous to others and always willing to lend a helping hand. Mary was a lifelong communicant at St. Pius V Church. She had a strong passion for learning, reading and writing. Mary was a published author of short stories and children’s books, but her greatest love and accomplishment was her family. Everyone who met her instantly fell in love with her charming, kind spirit.

Mary leaves behind her beloved husband Donald E. Johnson; and her cherished sons, Mark S. and Eric S. Johnson. In addition to her parents, Mary is predeceased by her son Daniel Johnson.

Thomas F. O’Leary Jr.

Dr. Thomas F. O’Leary Jr. entered into rest on Dec. 7, 2019. His wife, Sheila, and forever love was at his side with his family in attendance.

He was the eldest son of Thomas F. O’Leary Sr. and Mary B. (Gore) O’Leary of Roslindale. He was predeceased by his dear sister Joan Marie O’Leary and Younger brother Attorney Richard R. O’Leary. He leaves his brother, John R. O’Leary and his wife Elizabeth of Wildwood, Fla.; and nephews John O’Leary Jr. and family, Stephen O’Leary and family, Marybeth Mayo and family.  His caregivers Linda Cianprocca, and Marsha Coffee.

He enjoyed reading many books on history. He was passionate about education and attended Salem State University after retiring.

He graduated from Harvard in 1952 and Boston College School of Medicine in 1956. He was a general surgeon at Lynn Hospital and Union Hospital for many years, retiring in 1988.

NEW HAMPSHIRE — Carmella Rose (LaTerza) Gioia, 85, of New Hampshire and formally of Lynn and Peabody, passed peacefully Thursday, Dec. 5 surrounded by her loving family following a long illness. She was the devoted wife of Dominic Gioia. 

She was the daughter of the late Anthony and Irene (Allard) LaTerza. She was raised in Saugus and graduated from St. Mary’s High in Lynn. 

Rose is survived by her husband, Dominic; her son, Paul Gioia of Bridgton, Maine; her three daughters, Donna Gioia and her husband Peter Bennett of Hampton, N.H., Angela Gioia and her husband Steven Cole of North Providence, R.I., and Patricia and her husband Edward Casey of Wareham. Her six grandchildren, Robert S. O’Leary, Shane and Alexandra Taylor, Harold and John Irving, Christina Richert; and her great-granddaughter, Emma Welch; and by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers Christopher, Leo and John.

Service information: A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, Dec. 14 at 11 a.m. at Saint Ann’s Church, Lynn Street, Peabody, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. SKOWHEGAN, Maine — Carl T. Brewer, 67, of Skowhegan, Maine, died Dec. 6, 2019 at the Maine Medical Center.

Carl was born Dec. 10, 1951 in Lynn, the son of the late Roy and Carol Brewer. He grew up in Swampscott and graduated from Swampscott High School, Class of 1969.

He is survived by his sisters, Nancy Brown of Swampscott, Phyllis Tisdell of Huntsville, Ala.; nieces, Debbie, Cindy, Elaine and Karen, and a nephew, Geoffrey.

Elizabeth M. Palleschi, 91

PEABODY — Elizabeth Mary (LeBlanc) Palleschi, age 91, of Peabody, formerly of Swampscott, passed away on Dec. 10, 2019 from complications associated with ALS. 

Born in Saugus, the daughter of Luke and Tessie (Doucet) LeBlanc, and grew up in Wedgeport, Nova Scotia with her five sisters and four brothers. She relocated back to the North Shore of Boston in 1944 where she met and married the love of her life, John Palleschi of Swampscott and had a wonderful marriage of 65 years until the passing of John in 2014. They raised seven children together and now have 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

She is best known as a fantastic cook, particularly a great baker, whose delicious pies were top of the line. She is also well known for her patience in knitting and in creating artful handmade quilts and many framed puzzles.  

Betty is survived by her children, Lisa Moffett of Peabody, Angela and her husband, Ronald (Crusty) Hamilton of Lynn, Patricia Palleschi of Beverly, Carol Palleschi of Rochester, N.Y., John Palleschi and his wife, Audrey Single, of Plymouth, Bill and his wife, Terre Palleschi of Brentwood, N.H., and Mark Palleschi of Beverly. She also leaves her grandchildren, Joshua, Ryan and Craig Hamilton, John and Nicole Moffett, Zachary King, and Amanda, Caroline, Tony and Michael Palleschi; and her great-grandchildren, Kendall and Freya Hamilton, Jackson and Lila Moffett, Eli and Gianna Palleschi, and Sophia, Brayden and Juliana LaPointe.

Betty is also survived by her siblings, Robert LeBlanc and his wife Gert of Swampscott, Victor LeBlanc and his wife Pauline, and Aline Cormier of Wedgeport, Nova Scotia, and Jean Pascas of Ottawa, Ontario; and her sisters-in-law, Yvonne Palleschi, Gloria Palleschi and Esther Michaud. She also leaves many nieces and nephews both in the U.S. and Canada. Betty was preceded in death by her siblings Verna Shea, Esther Boudreau, Billy LeBlanc and Lawrence LeBlanc.

Service information: Her funeral will be held on Monday at 9 a.m. from the SOLIMINE Funeral Home, 67 Ocean St. (Route 1A), followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church, Swampscott. Kerrie A. Burggren, 60

LYNN — Kerrie A. (Higgins) Burggren, age 60 and lifelong resident of Lynn, died on Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2019 at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, surrounded by her loving family following a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. She was the loving and devoted wife of Mark Burggren, with whom she shared more than 33 years together. 

Born in Lynn in 1959, Kerrie was the daughter of James Higgins and the late Ann Marie (Cooney) Higgins. She was raised in Lynn, attended Lynn Public Schools, graduated from Lynn Classical High School in 1977 and received her Associate’s Degree in Accounting from North Shore Community College. 

Kerrie worked as a bookkeeper at All Welding Supply for many years and was a bartender at the former Red’s Pub on Western Avenue. She enjoyed taking walks at the beach with her W.W. girls and hosting holiday gatherings at her home. She loved spending time on her deck, summer vacations in Alton Bay, N.H., Friday night date night with her husband and especially loved spending time with her beloved grandchildren who knew her as Nana and Nannie B.  

Kerrie is survived by her husband, Mark Burggren; her father, James Higgins and his wife Mary of Lynn; her loving children, Mark Huggins and his wife Christine of Lynn, Allison Moise and her husband Marc of Lynn and Liz Moy and her husband Jay of Beverly; her cherished grandchildren, Emma and Grace Huggins, Kyele Moy and Robert Moise; her sisters, Barbara Smolinsky and her companion James Tatarczuk of Seabrook, N.H., Jodie Smith and her husband Michael of Ann Arbor, Mich., and Sharon Hannafin and her husband Gary of Alton, N.H.; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mary and Gerald Burggren of Alfred, Maine, and her many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws and close friends. In addition to her mother Ann Marie Higgins, Kerrie was predeceased by her former husband Cliff Huggins.

Louis M. Bellio

LYNNFIELD — Louis M. Bellio passed away peacefully in hospice care on Dec. 10 with his loved ones by his side.

Lou was born in East Boston to Mose and Angela (Bettio) Bellio. He was one of three children, including his sister Anna and brother William. He graduated from Mechanic Arts High School and then joined the Navy.

In the early 1950’s he began his 45-plus year printing career. Starting at Mass Indemnity Life Insurance Agency in Boston for more than 20 years. In 1976, he opened Bellio Printing with his brother Bill on A Street in Boston, where he worked for another 25 years until his retirement.

For many years he had a great passion for Dixieland music, enjoying music at venues everywhere until the age of 90. He loved playing music as well with his guitar, banjo, mandolin and accordion. He was also an avid reader. And, with his precision skills, he could fix just about anything on the planet. In the words of his grandson Justin, “Papa Lou was wise, strong and brilliant.”

He was a devoted husband to his wife, Dorothy (O’Keefe) for 66 years. Besides his wife he will be missed by his children, Linda Booth and her husband Michael, Susan Fitzgibbons and her husband Robert, Stephen Bellio and his wife Jill, Christopher Bellio and his wife Noreen; as well as his grandchildren, Justin, Nina and Miranda Bellio; his great-grandchild, Eliza; as well as and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Service information: Memorial visiting hours will be on Sunday from 3-7 p.m. in the SOLIMINE Funeral Home, 67 Ocean St. (Rout 1A), Lynn. Dorothy E. Davis, 96

Mrs. Dorothy E. (Nowell) Davis, 96, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2019 in Brentwood Rehabilitation Center following a lengthy illness. She is the wife of the late Leon J. Davis.

Dorothy was born in Lynn Dec. 10, 1923, she is the daughter of the late Gustavus and Vera (Gilman) Nowell. She was a resident of Lynn for most of her life, she lived in Burlington for eight years. Dorothy was a graduate of Lynn English High School, Class of 1941.

Dorothy worked as a bookkeeper for Gustavo Preston Company for 25 years until her retirement in 1993. She previously worked for Cushman Bakery.

She served on the Board of Directors for Kings Lynne Residents Council, GLSS, Lynn Council on Aging, Lynn Community Senior Services as well as Elder Service Plan of the North Shore.

She is survived by her five children, Michael F. Davis of Lynn, William J. Davis of Boston, Christopher J. Davis and his wife Dawn of Lynn, Dolores Bresnahan and her husband Deacon John of Lynn and Theresa Atkinson of Lynn. She is also survived by her 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Service information: Dorothy’s visiting hours will be in the CUFFE-MCGINN Funeral Home, 157 Maple St., Lynn, on Monday, Dec. 16, 2019 from 9-11 a.m. Her funeral service will be in the funeral home at 11 a.m. following visitation.
