SALEM, N.H., — Mr. Daniel L. Surette, age 89, formerly of Saugus, died on Tuesday, Jan. 17, at the Salemhaven Nursing Home in Salem, N.H. He was the husband of the late Marie A. (Kent) Surette.
Born and raised in Nova Scotia, Canada, he was the son of the late John M. and Melanie Ann (Muise) Surette. Daniel was a resident of Saugus for 56 years. He retired from General Electric Riverworks in Lynn as a machinist. He also served as an usher for more than 45 years at St. Margaret’s Church in Saugus, was a Saugus youth sports coach and served as a leader for Boy Scout Troop 68.
Mr. Surette leaves his four children, LAPD Sgt. Timothy Surette and his wife Sally of California, Theresa Harmon, GySgt. (Ret) USMC and her husband Ted of Louisiana, Tammy Bourgeois and her husband Michael of Methuen, Todd Surette of Beverly; Seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by five brothers and five sisters.

Service information: Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours in the BISBEE-PORCELLA Funeral Home, 549 Lincoln Ave., Saugus on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. Funeral from the funeral home on Wednesday at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Margaret’s Church, 431 Lincoln Ave., Saugus at 10 a.m. Burial will take place in the spring.
