Leila C. Weatherbee, 91

LYNNLeila C. (Cooper) Weatherbee, 91, of Melrose, formerly of Lynn, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2016.

Born in Lynn, Leila was the daughter of the late Fred A. and Gertrude (MacDonald) Cooper, the beloved wife of the late Charles W. “Pal” Weatherbee Sr., the loving and devoted mother of Charles W. Weatherbee Jr., and his wife, Darlene, of Enfield, Conn., the sister of the late Fred A. Cooper and Anlene Thistle, the sister-in-law of the late William Weatherbee, the adored grandmother of Rebekah Weatherbee Tidd and her husband, Marc, and Jessica L. Weatherbee, and the great-grandmother of Josiah and Lydia Tidd. Leila is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Leila was a graduate of Lynn English High School and proudly served her country in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the hydrographic office in Washington, DC. Leila loved to knit and play the organ. She also had a passion for jigsaw puzzles and search-a-word books.

Service information: Leila’s funeral service will be held at the CUFFE-MCGINN FUNERAL HOME, 157 Maple St., Lynn, on Wednesday, March 9, at 12 p.m. Relatives and friends invited.  Interment will be at the Pine Grove Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, March 9, prior to the service from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., at the funeral home.
