Henry N. Donovan, 77

Bedford, N.H.Henry Noah Donovan, 77, Bedford, N.H., formerly of Lynn and Beverly, passed away Monday, Aug. 22, 2016, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Henry was born Dec. 22, 1938, in New Brunswick, N.J., the adopted son of Walter and Ethel Donovan. He attended schools in Oak Hill, Fla., and joined the U.S. Navy in 1956, where he served four years with the 1st Naval District in Boston, aboard the USS Forrest Sherman. While in the Navy, he met his bride, Jean Sandra Brewster and married Aug. 22, 1959. Upon honorable discharge in 1960, he began a 40+ year career with United Welding Processes in Lynn.

He enjoyed cycling and running and completed many marathons including several Boston Marathons. He also had a passion for skiing and had great trips out west with his friends Clem, Peter and Danny. He loved hearing of the many adventures of his grandchildren and especially enjoyed cheering his grandsons on playing ice hockey. He was also very proud of his two tandem skydives at the ages of 70 and 75.

Surviving him in addition to his wife with whom they shared 57 years of marriage is a son, Larry Donovan and his wife, Kathryn, of Edmond, Okla., three daughters, Linda Donovan Garofalo and her husband, Mark, of Peabody, Diane Donovan DeLorenzo and her husband, Kevin, of Beverly and Caroline Donovan Curran and her husband, Michael, of Bedford, N.H., Henry is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Christopher Garofalo and his wife, Jennifer, Michelle Garofalo, Matthew Garofalo, Katelyn Donovan Cobb and her husband, Tony, Matthew Donovan and his wife, Hallie, Charlie DeLorenzo, Megan DeLorenzo, Molly DeLorenzo, Michael Curran III and Emily Curran, four great-grandchildren, Grace and William Garofalo, Dean Henry Donovan and Bennett Cobb. He was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Ethel, and his best friend of many years, Chris Eliopoulos.

Service information: His funeral service will be held in the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot St., Beverly, Thursday, Aug. 25, 2016, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
