LYNNRose (Maione) Nicholis DeFilippo, age 100, of Kansas, formerly of Lynn, passed away on Aug. 16, 2016. She was the beloved wife of the late George Nicholis, to whom she was married for 38 years and the late Rocco DeFilippo to whom she was married for 27 years.

Born in Topsfield, Rose was the daughter of the late Antonio and Maria (DiMeo) Maione.

She was the loving mother of George R. “Ron” Nicholis and his wife, Barbara, of Kansas and the late Judith Demetriou and her husband, Peter Demetriou, of Winthrop, the cherished grandmother of Susan Schneiders and her husband, Pat, Michael Nicholis and his wife, Laurie, all of Kansas, Angela Scangas and her husband, Nicholas, of Lynnfield and James Demetriou of Winthrop, and Maria LoPresti and her husband, Michael, of Melrose, the adored great-grandmother of Patrick, Nicholas and Daniel Schneiders and McKenzie, Megan and Makayla Nicholis, all of Kansas, Christina, Nicholas, Steven, and Andrew Scangas, of Lynnfield, the dear sister of the late Frank, Alphonse, Theodore and Anthony Maione, Jennie Camplese, Mary DeFrancisco, and Annie Colantoni, the sister-in-law of Mary Maione, the stepmother of Lucille Kiklis and her late husband, Angelo, Cathy Giangregorio and her husband, Silvio, and Mary Vitali and her husband, Sam, the stepgrandmother of the late Karl Kiklis and Marina Cronin and her husband, Edward, Anthony Giangregorio, Rocky Giangregorio and his wife, Cindy, Joey Giangregorio and his wife, Heather, and Teresa Raithel and her husband, Phil, the Honorable Michael Vitali and his wife, Sally, Sheri Warrington and her husband, Dan, Cassie Vitali, the adored great-grandmother of Jed, Angelina and Anthony Cronin, Gina Giangregorio, Rachel and Erica Giangregorio, and Samantha, Stella and Tye Giangregorio, and Alyssa and Michael Raithel, Lucia and Sofia Vitali, Mia, Rocco and Matteo Warrington and the aunt of many nieces and nephews. Rose was known as the family photographer, documenting family events for all of her children’s lives with pictures. She also enjoyed sewing, cooking, Bingo and all other family activities.

Service information: Rose’s funeral will be held at the CUFFE-MCGINN FUNERAL HOME, 157 Maple St., Lynn, on Thursday, Aug. 25, at 12 p.m. Interment in Pine Grove Cemetery will follow. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours will be held from 10 a.m., to 12 p.m., in the funeral home on Thursday, Aug. 25, prior to the funeral.
