PEABODY — Mr. Ralph E. Raynard, 85, of Peabody, passed away peacefully at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers on Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2016 surrounded by his family.
He was the beloved husband of the late Teresa (nee Videtta) Raynard for 46 years. Loving father of Mark V. (Maggie) Raynard and proud grandfather of Daniel, Margaret, William (deceased 2011) and Patrick Raynard, Glenview Il. Dear brother of the late Richard C. (Mary) Raynard, Centennial, Colo., and Edward L. (Shirley) Raynard, Middleton. He was the fond uncle of five nieces and nephews and is also survived by many relatives throughout the Boston area and Nova Scotia, Canada.
Ralph was born in Lynn to the late Ralph and Laura (nee Defillipo) Raynard. He was raised in Middleton and a graduate of Holten High School in Danvers. He went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), 1952.
He served his country as a 1st lieutenant in the Air Force during the Korean War.
Founder of the former E.G. Washburne & Co. of Danvers, a retail store specializing in weathervanes. Ralph was a 32nd degree Mason A.F. & A.M., a member of Amity-Mosaic Lodge of Danvers and a member of the Aleppo Shrine Temple. He was a longtime member of the Rotary Club of Danvers and Peabody and was instrumental in assisting over 25 foreign students attending university studies in the U.S.
Retiring at age 55, Ralph and Teresa extensively traveled the world, often visiting the homes of the students they mentored, creating lifelong relationships that exist today.
