SWAMPSCOTT — Catherine V. “Kay” (Harrington) McGrath, age 91, of Swampscott, formerly of Salem and Lynn, died on Monday, Aug. 8, 2016, at the Grosvenor Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by her family, after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of the late Edmund V. McGrath.
Born and raised in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Anna (Green) Harrington. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s Girls High School, Class of 1942. Kay had lived in Lynn the majority of her life before moving to Salem in 2003.
She loved the time that she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by a son, Kevin McGrath, of Swampscott, a daughter, Sheila Thomas, of Windermere, Fla., four grandchildren, Christopher Pike, Kimberly Thomas Steinman, Mark McGrath and Matthew McGrath, three great-grandchildren, a sister, Loretta Surette, of Lynn, and several nieces and nephews.
Service information: Her funeral will be held on Friday at 9:30 a.m., from the SOLIMINE FUNERAL HOME, 426 Broadway (Route 129), Lynn, followed by a funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m., in St. Mary’s Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lynn. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours are Thursday, 4-8 p.m. Directions and guest book at Solimine.com.
