Lynn – Mr. Charles L. Bickford, Sr. (Chucky), 90 years of Lynn, died on December 9, 2020 in Salem Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Loretta (Demeule) Bickford. He was born and raised in Boston, the son of the late Charles and Victoria (Pasacane) Bickford. He attended Boston schools. Charles lived in Lynn most of his life.
Charles was a Navy Veteran of the Korean War. He served from 1948 to 1952 and had almost 4 years sea duty. He served in Trinidad, BWI and Jacksonville Florida. He loved the outdoors, mostly hunting and fishing. He was a member, bartender and frequent card player at the Fox Hill Yacht Club. He had a passion for cooking. He enjoyed spending as much time as possible with his family. He was an artist who loved to sketch and paint. By trade, Charles was an automobile mechanic and owned Chuck’s Auto Repair on Western Avenue in Lynn for many years. Most of all, he was a hilarious man who was loved by many.
He is survived by a son, Charles L. Bickford, Jr. and his wife Linda of Malden, three daughters, Diane Sauchuk of Stuart Florida, Deborah Kaminski of Daytona Florida, and Darlene Bickford of Lynn, his grandchildren, Lindsey, Shaun, Courtney, Laurie, Nicole and Matthew, his great grandchildren, Shaun Michael, Jr., Christian, Makenna, Chance, Katie, Alyssa and Ryan. He also leaves his brother, Vincent “Vinnie” Bickford, Carol Betez, Marlene Fenton and several nieces and nephews. Charles is predeceased by his sister Geraldine Tackett and son-in-law Michael Kaminski.
Service Information: His funeral will be held on Monday, December 28, 2020 from the Solimine Funeral Home, 426 Broadway (Rte. 129) Lynn. Visitation is from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM followed by a private funeral mass at St. Mary’s Church, Lynn. There will be cremation followed by private burial. Adhering to the Guidelines of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the CDC, visitation will be limited to 25 family and friends at a time.
