READING — Sarah (Sally) E. Griffin (McAlevey), 100 years old, of Reading, passed away on July 15, 2016.
She was born and raised in Marblehead and lived many years in Lynn before moving to Reading. She was the daughter of Josephine and George McAlevey, DDS. She was the sister of the late Ellen Donovan and Susan Lally. Her late husband was William A. Griffin.
Sally worked as a nurse at Lynn Union and Saugus General hospitals.
She was the mother of the late Melinda P. Driscoll, wife of the late James Driscoll of Lynn. She leaves her son, Douglas G. Griffin; daughter Susan E. Fitzgerald and son in-law Richard Fitzgerald, all of Reading. She also leaves five grandchildren Kerri, Kevin, Kelly, Sean and Sarah, eight great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, a nephew, Gerard, close family members and many friends. Sally will be missed.
