LYNN — Mrs. Madeline A. (Morano) Laplante, age 79, of Lynn, died on Sunday, July 24, 2016, at the Phillips Manor Nursing Home, with her family at her side, after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of Maurice C. Laplante, with whom she shared 55 years of marriage.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Carruthers) Morano. She had lived in New York, New Jersey and Worcester prior to moving to Lynn in 1961. Madeline was a graduate of the St. Vincent’s Hospital School of Nursing in Worcester, upon graduation she had worked as a Registered Nurse at Mass General Hospital and then later in her life at the Jesmond Nursing Home in Nahant. She was a longtime communicant of Sacred Heart Parish, Lynn.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two children, Maurice J. “M.J.” Laplante, of Lynn and Marie T. Getchell and her husband, Mark, of Chelmsford, four grandchildren, Matthew and Marisa Getchell and Thomas and Michael Laplante, two sisters, Patricia Donovan and her husband, John F., of Franklin, and Mary Elizabeth LeClair and her husband, Joseph, of Florida, a brother, Robert “Bob” Morano and his wife, Susan, of California, a sister-in-law, Mary A. Laplante, of Lynn, a brother-in-law, Frank Smejkal, of Texas, and many nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Joseph P. Laplante, and the sister of the late Agnes LeClair Smejkal.
Service information: Her funeral will be held on Friday at 10 a.m., from the SOLIMINE FUNERAL HOME, 426 Broadway, (Route 129), Lynn, followed by a funeral Mass at 11 a.m., in Sacred Heart Church. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
