Charles F. Mitchell Sr., 93

LYNN — Charles F. Mitchell Sr., age 93, passed away peacefully at Kaplan House, Danvers on Monday, May 25, 2020. He was the beloved husband of the late Louise E. (Jackson) Mitchell, with whom he shared 57 years of marriage. 

Born on Aug. 22, 1926 in Lynn, he was a son of the late Charles F. Mitchell and Carrie (Hall) Mitchell. Charles attended Lynn English High School, and following his graduation enlisted in the United States Navy where he was stationed in Norfolk, Va. Following his dedicated service, Charles went on to work for General Electric for many years.

In his free time, Charles kept busy. He was a board member of the Greater Lynn Council of Aging, a board member of Asbury Grove in Hamilton, volunteered with the auxiliary police, as well as many other volunteer positions. Charles was also a dedicated and loving father and husband, who spent every moment he could tending to his beautiful wife before her passing in 2005.

Surviving Charles are his children, Albert C. Mitchell and his Frances of Charlotte, N.C., Charles F. Mitchell Jr. and his wife Patricia of Salem, Audre L. Harshman and her husband Danny of Salem, Charmaine Jones of Oceanside, Calif., Terry Melendez and her husband Fernando of Riverside, Calif.; his step-sons, Michael Jackson of Franklin and Eugene Jackson of Brazil; his grandsons, Adam Harshman of Steinbach, GE, Albert Mitchell Jr. of Newington, CN, and Ryan Mitchell of Beverly; his granddaughters, Alexis Harshman of Kassel, GE, Nicole Mitchell of Midland, N.C., Danielle Petrides of Lynn, and Felicia Penrod of Oceanside, Calif., as well as many other believed friends and relatives. Charles was the brother of the late William, James and Aubrey Mitchell, and Catherine Callendar and Louise Trammel. 

Service information: Friends and family are invited to call at the CUFFE-MCGINN Funeral Home, 157 Maple St., Lynn, on Friday, May 29 from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m., noting that the funeral home will be following COVID-19 social distancing guidelines.
