John R. DiLisio, 77

SWAMPSCOTT — John R. DiLisio, age 77, of Swampscott, passed away peacefully on Monday after a lengthy illness.  He was the husband of Jennifer (Lane) DiLisio, with whom he shared 50 years of marriage.  A lifelong Swampscott resident, he was the son of the late John A. and Mary C. (Gambale) DiLisio.  He was a graduate of Swampscott High School, class of 1961, and was a three sport athlete, playing baseball, hockey and football.

John served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.  He was Vice President of a recycling company for many years, and in his retirement worked with many family and friends at the DiLisio Golf Range.  He was an avid golfer and former member of Gannon Golf Course in Lynn.  He loved to play cards and take the occasional trip to local casinos.  He was an avid fan of the Red Sox, Bruins and Patriots.  Above all, he was a dedicated and loving husband, father and grandfather, never missing one of his son’s games or events.  He will be remembered as outgoing, charismatic and affable.

In addition to his beloved wife, John is survived by two sons; Jason DiLisio and his wife Kathleen of Swampscott and Justin DiLisio and his wife Erin of Nahant; three grandchildren who will miss their #1 Papa, Chase, John and Mary; his siblings; Jim DiLisio and his wife Kay of Baltimore, Rosemary Cotton of Swampscott, and Laura Mc Call of Swampscott; his in-laws; Nancy DiLisio, Peter and Sandy Lane, Robert and Ann Lane, and Patricia Lane; his lifelong friend Carmen Waelde; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was the brother of the late Michael DiLisio and brother-in-law of the late Joe McCall and Donald Lane.

Adhering to the guidelines of the Commonwealth of MA and the CDC, services will be private.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Brain Injury Association of MA, 30 Lyman Street, Suite 10, Westborough, MA 01581.  Arrangements by the SOLIMINE FUNERAL HOME, Lynn.  Relatives and friends are encouraged to leave a message of condolence at www.solimine.com
