Karen M. Lennon, 74

LYNN — Karen M. (Deveau) Lennon, age 74, of Lynn, died on Wednesday, March 25, 2020 at the Abbott House Nursing Home in Lynn, following a brief illness. She was the wife of George F. “Rusty” Lennon, with whom she shared 50 years of marriage.

Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Margaret R. (Hughes) Deveau. She had lived in Lynn for the greater part of her life, and was a graduate of St. Mary’s Girls High School, Class of 1963, and Lynn Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1967.

A registered nurse, Karen worked as an IV therapist at Lynn and Union hospitals for 53 years until her retirement in 2015. She was one of the first RNs to become a certifed registered nurse infusion (CRNI). She was active with the Lynn Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association, and was also a member of the Intravenous Nurse Society and the MA Association for Vascular Access Network. She enjoyed teaching and mentoring other nurses in her field and was always eager to share her knowledge with others. She was also an avid reader, and loved dancing and entertaining. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew her.

In addition to her husband Rusty, she is survived by her son, Shawn P. Lennon of Lynn; her sisters, Gail Malley of Swampscott and Cheryl Deschenes and her husband Donald of Haverhill; as well as two nieces, Lindsay Deschenes and Ashlee Osswald and her husband Bret.
