Delores J. (Levesque) Starratt entered into rest Monday, March 9, 2020 at her home, surrounded by her loving family, following a lengthy illness. She was the beloved, devoted wife of James I. Starratt, with whom she shared 63 years of marriage.
Born in Swampscott and raised in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Dorothy (Knox) Levesque. She graduated from Lynn English High School, Class of 1953 and Lynn Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1956.
After raising her children Delores worked as a registered nurse for Allergy Medical Associates and the City of Lynn Health and School Department as a school nurse until her retirement.
Delores was active in her high school class reunion committee serving for many years as secretary. She was an active member of the Grace United Methodist Church, former member of the Lynn Assembly Order of the Rainbow and Eastern Star.
A devoted mother, grandmother and aunt, she enjoyed family gatherings and celebrating holidays. She was a talented seamstress, quilter and crochet worker, having won ribbons for her crewel designs.
She loved traveling and spending winters in Florida. She enjoyed her weekend getaways to Houston for her son-in-law’s hair styling, and enjoyed even more telling everyone that she gets hers done in Houston.
In addition to her husband, Delores is survived by her four children, James D. Starratt and his wife Dionisia Ferrer of Austin, Texas, Paul M. Starratt of Westford, John A. Starratt and his husband Craig Stevenson of Houston, Texas, Debra J. Starratt of Lynn; grandchildren, James A. Starratt of Huntsville, Ala., Emily L. Starratt of Northampton; and daughter-in-law, Diann R. Starratt; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Valerie Donovan.
Service information: Her funeral will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. in the SOLIMINE Funeral Home, 426 Broadway (Route 129), Lynn. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours are Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. Directions and guestbook at www.solimine.com.
