SALEM — Zbigniew P. “Steve” Zielinski, age 80, of Salem and formerly of Lynn, died on Thursday, February 27, 2020, at North Shore Medical Center, Salem Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Edith (Portnoy) Zielinski with whom he shared over 55 years of marriage. Born in Poniatow, Poland in 1939, he was the son of the late Ludwik and Salomea (Zarczynski) Zielinski. At the age of 10, he immigrated to the United States and settled in Lynn. He attended St. Michael’s Grammar School, Breed Jr. High School, Lynn Classical High School and Chamberlain Jr. College in Boston. In August of 1958, Steve enlisted in the United States Army, was honorably discharged in August of 1961 and has lived in Salem for the past 50 years. He worked as a crane operator and rigger at the General Electric in Lynn for over 40 years and was a member of IUE-CWA Local 201. He enjoyed listening to records, comics and was an avid reader. He was a talented artist, enjoyed walking, especially along the beach and loved spending time with his family.
In addition to his beloved wife Edith, he is survived by his loving daughters, Deborah Zielinski of Salem, Stephanie Zielinski-Beauchamp and her husband Mark of Lynn and Jennifer Zielinski and her husband Michael Gonsalves of Salem and his cherished grandchildren, Taylor, Zacharie, Cody, Skylar, Storm, Soren, Cole and Grayson. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters Louise and Valentine.
Service information: A Funeral will be held on Monday, March 2, 2020 in the SOLIMINE FUNERAL HOME, 426 Broadway (Rt. 129), Lynn at 9:30a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Pius V Church, Lynn at 10:30a.m. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Lynn.
