LYNN — Marion E. “Auntie M” (Wise) Tinkham, of Lynn, age 85, a lifelong resident of Lynn, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 6, 2016, at Essex Park Nursing Home in Beverly. She was born on May 22, 1931, in Abbot, Maine, the daughter of the late, Liston and Merinda (Skidgell) Wise. She was raised in Abbot and educated in both Abbot and Lynn. She attended Lynn Classical High School.
As a younger woman, “Auntie M” had worked as a laborer in the local shoe industry. She had also worked for many years at the McDonald’s Restaurant on Boston Street in Lynn. She took great pride and love in helping to care for many family members over the years, including her own grandchildren.
She was a very spiritual woman, who belonged to the Maple Street United Methodist Church. She always enjoyed attending Bible study classes, and being active with various women’s groups. “Auntie M” loved a challenging puzzle, as well as taking long walks and watching game shows on TV.
She was predeceased by her husband, Eugene A. Tinkham, in 1995. She is survived by her son, Roger Tinkham and spouse, Leeanne, of Lynn. Her brother, Stephen Wise and spouse, Myrtie, of Peabody. Her niece, Heather McRae and spouse, James, of Lynn. Her brother-in-law, Oakley Frye of Lynn. Her three grandchildren, Christopher and Nicholas Tinkham and McKayla McRae, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive her. She was also predeceased by her brothers, William and Lee Wise, and her sister, Norma Frye.
Service information: Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2016, from 9–11 a.m., at Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Main St., Lynn. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m., at the funeral home. Burial will follow the services in Pine Grove Cemetery, Boston Street in Lynn.
