SAUGUS — Marie K. (O’Brien) Dixon, age 71, of Saugus, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, January 23, 2020, at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, following a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of 47 years to John Dixon; she was his best friend and soulmate. Born in Lynn in 1948, Marie was the daughter of Marie A. (Cadarette) O’Brien and the late John D. O’Brien. She was raised and educated in Lynn, attended St. Jean Baptiste Grammar School, graduated from Lynn Classical High School in 1966 and received her Associate’s Degree from North Shore Community College. Marie began her career at General Electric in West Lynn and later at Lynn Gas and Electric before working as a caretaker for Greater Lynn Senior Services, GLSS for over 12 years. Marie loved cooking, especially family dinners on Sunday, gardening, bowling, watching her favorite shows, Law and Order, Phantom Gourmet and Diners-Drive-Ins and Dives and vacations with her family to Newfound Lake. She was always involved in her children’s sports, cheering them on or working the concession stand. Marie’s favorite time was with her grandchildren, teaching her granddaughters how to bake cookies, muffins and cakes and will be missed by her many loving family and friends.
In addition to her husband and mother, Marie was the beloved mother of Sean Dixon and his wife Tara of Saugus, Timothy “T.J.” Dixon of Saugus, Ryan Dixon and his wife Jen of Saugus and Kevin Essery and his wife Eleanor of Boynton Beach, FL; cherished “Meme” of Caitlyn, Arianna and R.J. and loving sister of Jim O’Brien and his wife Kathy, Kevin O’Brien, Bill O’Brien and his wife Donna, Pat Riley and her husband John, Bev McGinn and her husband Jay and Terri Arena. She is also survived by her many Dixon in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
Service Information: A Funeral will be held on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 from the SOLIMINE FUNERAL HOME, 426 Broadway (Rt. 129), Lynn at 9a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in Blessed Sacrament Church, Saugus at 10:30a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
