BEVERLY — Rita M. DeSantis (Doucette), 88, passed away in the evening of Monday, July 22, 2019 at the Ledgewood Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Facility in Beverly.

Rita was the daughter of the late Mabela (Lapham) and Irving Doucette. Born and raised in Salem, Rita attended Salem schools before she graduated from Salem High School in 1946.

After graduation, she went onto work as an accountant for several businesses. It wasn’t until she met the love of her life, F. John DeSantis, when they got married and started a family where she found her true calling as a loving wife and mother to her children. She will be remembered for her loving nature as she always hosted and cooked for Christmas parties at her home with her entire family and close friends.

In her free time, Rita enjoyed gardening her household plants and as she later in life moved to Ledgewood became close friends with the other residents and staff. She will be dearly missed for her loving nature as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Rita leaves behind her son Bob DeSantis and his wife Merilee of Salem, her son James DeSantis of Amesbury and his significant other Sandy Fosgate; her grandson, Brad DeSantis and his significant other Naomi Clowes of Phoenix, Ariz.; her granddaughter, Jen Nascimento and her husband Doug of Beverly, her grandson Austin DeSantis of Amesbury; and her great-grandchildren, Madyson, Olivia and Maria. Rita is predeceased by her brothers Irving J. Doucette and Robert S. Doucette.
