James B. Rice, 81

LYNN — James Brian Rice, 81, of Lynn, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on June 25, 2019 after a lengthy illness. 

James was born Nov. 10, 1937, to Carl and Gertrude (Stolte) Rice of Pembroke, Maine.

He served over eight years in the Air Force, achieving the rank of staff sergeant. Throughout that time, he worked with the National Weather Service and was stationed many places around the world. James then worked in finance until his retirement. 

James was very active in his church, East Baptist Church of Lynn. He was a lifelong member of The Pembroke Grange. James never met a person with whom he could not strike up a conversation. He was an amazing listener and was exceedingly kind. 

James is survived by his wife of more than 40 years, Sandra (Henson) Rice of Lynn; his son and daughter-in-law, Tyler and Jessie Redding of Kissimmee, Fla.; his sister, Carol Johnson of Monmouth, Maine; many nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends. 

Service information: Service will be held at East Baptist Church, 300 Western Ave., Lynn, on Saturday, June 29, 2019. A viewing will begin at 12 p.m. with a Celebration of Life service at 1 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Arrangements entrusted to SOLIMINE Funeral Homes, Lynn.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Harold F. Blackwood Scholarship Fund, c/o Linda Church, P.O. Box 151, Pembroke, ME 04666. Make check payable to Pembroke HS Alumni Association, “Blackwood Scholarship” in note. Directions and guestbook at www.solimine.com.
