KENNEBUNK, Maine — Augusta F. (Norton) Duncan, age 97, of Kennebunk, Maine, formerly of Lynn, died Sunday, June 23, 2019. She was the wife of the late John R. Duncan Jr.
Born and raised in Harpswell, Maine, she was the daughter of the late George E. and Hattie C. (Merriman) Norton. She was a graduate of Brunswick High School, Class of 1940, and also attended Shaws Business College. She had lived in Lynn for the greater part of her life.
Augusta had worked as a tool coordinator for General Electric in Lynn until her retirement. She was active with the Little Theater and the Peninsula Players in Nahant, and was an active member of the former Christ Church in Lynn. She enjoyed watching sports and tending to her garden. She was naturally artistic, excelled at all crafts and was an expert at sewing. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family.
She is survived by three children, John R. Duncan III and his wife Donna of Tamassee, S.C., Kathleen E. Leighton of Kennebunkport, Maine, and David Duncan and his wife Pamela of Seneca, S.C.; her grandchildren, Dave Esposito of Denver, Colo., Doug Esposito of Brighton, John A. Leighton Jr. and Timothy W. Leighton, both of Lynn, David Duncan of Waltham and Matthew Duncan of Dracut; her great-grandsons, Jonathan Leighton of Lynn, Steven Leighton of Belfair, Wash., and Timothy Leighton Jr. of Lynn; her great-great-granddaughter, Willow Leighton of Lynn; as well as her siblings, Hannah Dring and Andrew Norton of Maine.
