LYNN — Francis C. “Frank” Resse, age 87, of Lynn and Naples, Fla., passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, Nov. 30, 2018 surrounded by his loving family following a brief illness. He was the loving husband of Bettyann (Wormstread) Resse, with whom he shared 67 years of marriage.
Born in Saugus in 1931, Frank was the son of the late Henry and Dorothy (Tibbals) Resse. He was raised and educated in Saugus and graduated Saugus High School. Following graduation, Frank enlisted in the United States Army, reaching the rank of staff sergeant and serving during the Korean War.
After his honorable discharge from the Army he studied and acquired both his captain’s license and crane operator license. He navigated clients’ boats up and down the east coast, from Massachusetts to Florida. This led to a long career as a boat salesman and marine mechanic at local facilities including Beverly Harbor Marina.
Following retirement, Frank immersed himself into the game of golf. He was a longtime member at Gannon Municipal Golf Course and the Naples Heritage Golf and Country Club. He was a member of the Shoe City Golf League at Gannon and was Club Net Champion in 1994. He mastered his first hole-in-one at Gannon and second at Naples.
In addition to his wife Bettyann, Frank is survived by his loving children, Mark Resse of Lynn, Brenda Resse of Lynn, Betty Nygren and her late husband Peter of Lynn and Arthur Resse of Naples, Fla.; his beloved grandchildren, Andrew, Allison, Kamelon, Melissa, Paige, Richard, David, Sarah and Adam; her cherished great-grandchildren; and his many nieces, nephews and close friends. In addition to his parents, Frank was predeceased by his son Scott, his grandson Jeffrey and his brother Henry.
