Mrs. Dorothy Rae (Parks) Morley passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home in Nahant on Wednesday, April 3, 2019 after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of the late James Edward Morley.
Born in Lynn’s Brickyard neighborhood on April 17, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Elmer M. and Mary (Warden) Parks. She was the grand-daughter of the late Leonard Wellman & Catherine (Rooney) Parks of Woburn and was a tenth generation descendant of Myles Standish of the Mayflower.
A resident of Nahant for over 50 years, she was a long time communicant of St. Thomas Aquinas Church, were she served in the Lady’s Sodality and was very active in the Parish. She made pilgrimages to the Holy Land, Lourdes, Fatima, Betania, and Rome with her many church friends. She was also a professed Third Order Secular Franciscan in the Lynn fraternity and did many small acts of charity over the years.
As a mother and grandmother, she cooked and planned countless family parties on the holidays. She enjoyed fishing for flounder with the boys, knitting, cooking, genealogy, and celebrating good times with her family and friends. She was loved by all who knew her.
Mrs. Morley is survived by her sons Jason C. Morley of Nahant, James J. Morley and his wife Patricia of Lynn, and Frederick A. Morley and his wife Susan of Salem; her grandchildren, Shawn P. Morley, Ryan J. Morley, Erin P. Bursey, Christian S. Morley, Jason W. Morley, Robin C. Palamara, Jonathan F. Morley, Timothy J. Morley and Jenna K. McGuire; and seventeen great-grandchildren. She was the mother of the late John E. Morley of Marblehead and his wife Gail. She was also the sister of the late Warren, Elmer and Alice Parks.
Service information: A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 248 Nahant Rd., Nahant, MA at 10a.m. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nahant. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 9-10a.m in the Church, prior to the Funeral Mass. Arrangements entrusted to SOLIMINE FUNERAL HOMES, LYNN.
