LYNN — John J. Penza, age 91, of Lynn, died on Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2019 at Salem Hospital. He was the husband of Maria (Gambino) Penza, with whom he shared 58 years of marriage.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of the late Dominic and Assunta (Losco) Penza. He was raised in Revere and was a graduate of Chelsea High School. John has lived in Lynn and Revere for most of his adult life.
John had worked as a machinist at the GE and had also worked as a produce manager for 30 years for A&P.
John was a communicant of St. Pius V Parish. He enjoyed gardening and was an avid sports fan. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and could always be found at all of his grandchildren’s sporting events.
He is the father of John Dominic Penza and his wife Josephine of Saugus and the late Joseph Michael Penza and his wife Theresa of Tewksbury; the grandfather of five grandchildren, Eric, Ashley, Joseph, Renee, and Christopher Penza, the brother of the late Alfred, Anthony, Dominic, Carmen, and Albert Penza. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins
Service information: His funeral will be held on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. from the SOLIMINE Funeral Home, 426 Broadway (Route 129), Lynn, followed by a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Revere.
