Peter L. Beaton, 79

TEWKSBURY — Mr. Peter L. Beaton, age 79, of Tewksbury, formerly of Lynn, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2019 at the Peregrine Senior Living Community in Tewksbury after a lengthy illness.   He was the loving and devoted husband of the late Charlotte A. Beaton (Elwell) with whom he shared 57 years of marriage.

A longtime resident of Lynn and then Salem, he was the son of the late Angus and Elizabeth (Doucette) Beaton.  He attended Lynn schools and was a graduate of the Lynn Trade High School. He worked for many years at General Electric and then Ametek in Wilmington.

Peter loved to spend time with his loving wife Charlotte and their children and grandchildren. He loved to take them all on vacations and fun trips around the holidays.  He had many hobbies over the years. He enjoyed gardening, country music, and was quite skilled at woodworking. He made many fine pieces of furniture for his family. He had a sparkle in his eye and was most happy in the company of his family.

Peter is survived by his three daughters, Karen Beaton and her husband Edward Mayo of Littleton, N.H., Janet and Mark LaRochelle of Peabody, and Theresa and John Conway of Beverly. He leaves eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother William and Dianne Beaton of South Ruskin, Fla. and his sister Carol and Thomas Whitten of Peabody. He was predeceased by his brother James Beaton.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Peregrine Senior Living for the compassionate care given to both Peter and Charlotte over the years.

Service information: Peter’s Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 6th at the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple St., Lynn.   Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Wednesday prior to the service in the funeral home.   In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Michael J.
