LYNN — Grayce J. (Nickerson) Gulliver, age 92, of Lynn, died suddenly on Tuesday in her home. She was the wife of the late John E. Gulliver.
Born in Beverly, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Helen (Tibbetts) Nickerson. She was raised in Mansfield and was a graduate of Mansfield High School. She had lived in Lynn since 1976.
Grayce had worked as an inspector for Sylvania in Salem for 40 years until her retirement in 1992. She was a member of the former Shoemaker Post 345, American Legion Auxiliary in Lynn. She had also volunteered at the Chelsea Soldiers Home. For many years, she, her husband and friends had weekly dances at the Cy Tenney Club in Peabody.
She and her husband are fondly remembered as Santa and Mrs. Claus. They went to the houses of relatives and friends on Christmas Eve to deliver presents to their children. She was also part of a group of ladies, similar to a Red Hat Society, who went out as a group for monthly dinners. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Todd C. Ylonen and his wife Susan of Lynn; her grandchildren, Peter Ylonen and his girlfriend Caitlin Mallett, and Kelsey Ylonen and her fiancé Levi Anderson; her step-daughter, Shawna Fonger and her family of Foxboro, as well as several nieces and nephews and her beloved dog, Sable. She was the sister of the late Helen Curry, Marlena Cormier, and Russell Nickerson.
Service information: Her funeral will be held on Saturday at 12 p.m. in the SOLIMINE Funeral Home, 426 Broadway (Route 129), Lynn. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Burial will be private. Visiting hours are Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Directions and guestbook at www.solimine.com.
