LYNN — David Bratchie McInnes, 79, of Swampscott, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2018.

He was the devoted partner of Edward Kenosian of Swampscott; the dear brother of Elizabeth Hansell and her husband Eric, and Ian McInnes and his wife Yvonne, all of England. He was the uncle of Tracey, Mark, James, Martin and Teresa, as well as several grandnieces and nephews. David is also survived by his adopted extended family and a few very close friends.

Born and educated in Luton, England, David was the beloved son of the late John and Laticia (McGhee) McInnes. After completing his training and internship as a painting contractor, he immigrated to the U.S. in 1964, first to New York City and then to Lynn.

He owned and operated his own painting/contracting company on the North Shore for more than 40 years prior to his retirement. He had numerous clients in Swampscott, Marblehead and Lynn, some of whom became close friends.

David loved his home, living near the ocean and traveling, including several cruises in the Caribbean and to New Orleans for Mardi Gras. He enjoyed entertaining his extended family and friends at his home and was known for his sense of humor that could lighten the mood in any situation. He was a voracious reader of all kinds of fiction and non-fiction, he enjoyed decorating his home for Christmas, which included an extensive miniature winter village.
