SWAMPSCOTT — Abigail E. “Abby” (Maguire) Rogers, of Swampscott, died unexpectedly, Sept. 17, at 43 years of age.

Born in Melrose and raised in Woburn, Abby was the cherished daughter of Paul B. and Susan J. (Hines) Maguire of Woburn. She was a graduate of Woburn High School, Class of ’93 and received her bachelor’s degree at Boston College. She furthered her education at Lesley College where she received her Master’s in Education.

Abby found her passion in teaching. For more than 20 years she was involved in education, most notably teaching Social Studies at the Swampscott Middle School. She was dedicated to her students and always took the time to help any student in need. Students looked up to her, admiring her compassion for education and more importantly, her kindness. She always lit up the middle school hallways with her warmth and smile.

Abby was very involved in school activities and went above and beyond to volunteer her time in extracurricular activities across the board, including the Toys for Local Children Program (TLC) which she helped create and various sporting activities. She also served as the JV soccer coach for Swampscott High School and was very involved in enhancing the lives of her students’ lives.

Her greatest joy in life came from her daughters. Her love for them had no bounds! Going to the beach, taking rides and going for ice cream, were all times, fun!

Along with her parents, Abby is survived and will be deeply missed by her two beautiful daughters — who were her world, Lyla J. and Chloe E., and their Dad, Kevin C. Rogers, all of Swampscott; siblings, Joshua P. Maguire, his wife Erika of Burlington and Jessica S. Peretti, her husband Douglas of Woburn. Dear daughter-in-law of Neal R. and Roberta C. Rogers of Swampscott. Abby is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
