ELIZABETHTON, Tenn. — Evelyn Richardson Parrish, 80, of Elizabethton, Tenn., formerly of Lynn, passed away Friday, Sept. 14, 2018 in the Hillview Health Center.
She was a daughter of the late Frank and Hazel Smiledge Richardson. She leaves her devoted husband and companion of 52 years, Walter Parrish; three beloved children, sons, Alan of Massachusetts, Kenneth of Tennessee, one daughter, Donna of Massachusetts. She was preceded in death by her loving sons Richard “Butch” Parrish and Clayton Brown. She also leaves 24 grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two stepchildren, Ronald Parrish of Florida and Wanda Kilroy of Lynn; a devoted “daughter,” Judy Grindstaff and family; and dear friend of more than 60 years, Gloria Casey, all of Tennessee.
She was a member of the Mass. Assoc. retired State Employees, AARP and was co-founder and president of the Responsible Dog Owners Org., now defunct, an anti-breed discriminatory group who fought and won a suit against the city of Lynn who tried to ban pit bulls.
The family would like to thank the staff at Hillview Health Care for the care they gave Evelyn.
Service information: Funeral services were conducted Sunday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Dennis Wilson officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Carter County Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 134, Elizabethton, TN 37644, and would be greatly appreciated.
