LYNN — John H. “Jack” Curry, a long-time resident of Lynn, passed away in his home on Thursday, August 24, 2018 at the age of 91 surrounded by his family. Born in Lynn on July 11, 1927, Jack was the son of the late Harold and Mary (Haley) Curry. Jack was raised and educated in Lynn and was a graduate of Lynn English High School. Jack enlisted into the US Navy during World War II, honorably discharged as a Seaman Second Class on August 5th, 1946. He married Claire Carmody on June 16th, 1951, sharing 67 years together. Jack worked many years as a Lineman before retiring as a Troubleman with the MASS Electric Company. He and his wife enjoyed traveling when the chance arose. Jack enjoyed the outdoors, especially skiing in New Hampshire, and hiking in Lynn Woods. He also had a special relationship with his recliner, remote control and television, where his family would often find him in his later years. He loved sports, especially cheering on the Patriots. Trips to Twin Rivers were always enjoyed playing on the Poker machines.
In addition to his wife, Jack leaves his children: Colleen Greeley and her husband, Stuart of Peabody, Marie Arrao and her husband, Anthony of Saratoga Springs, Kevin Curry and his wife, Linda of Lynn, Paul Curry and his wife, Anne Marie of Danvers, and Jay Curry and his wife, Theresa of Newburyport, his grandchildren: Brian and wife Laura, Cailin McDermott and husband Michael, Kristyn Stilwell and husband William, Kelleigh, Kevin, Benjamin and Nicholas as well as four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother Richard Curry.
Service information: Relatives and friends are invited to the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple St. Lynn on Thursday, August 30, 2018 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. for an hour of visitation before Jack’s Funeral Mass in St. Pius V Church, 215 Maple St. Lynn at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Lynn.
