SWAMPSCOTT — Ann (Cardillo) Riddell, age 93, of Swampscott, died Wednesday in a local nursing home after a lengthy battle with dementia. She was the wife of the late George T. Riddell.
A lifelong resident of Swampscott, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Jennie (Scala) Cardillo. She was a graduate of Swampscott High School, where she began her lifetime involvement with Big Blue Athletics.
Ann had worked as a waitress for Nandee’s Functions and Catering in Lynn for 35 years. She was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in Swampscott, and was a member of the Ladies Sodality.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Ann McElhannon and her husband Norris of Newman, Ga.; her grandson, Sean Ryan McElhannon and his wife Amanda of Swampscott; her great-grandsons, Ryan Edward and Luke Riddell McElhannon; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition, she leaves Debbie O’Connell of Swampscott and her sons Sean O’Connell and Jason Burbridge and their families, all of whom have become a part of the Riddell family. She was the sister of the late Joseph Cardillo and Frances Ronzano.
Service information: Her funeral will be held on Monday at 9 a.m. from the SOLIMINE Funeral Home, 67 Ocean St. (Route 1A), Lynn, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church, Swampscott. Burial will be in Swampscott Cemetery. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
