Dorothy May Cooper, 92

Dorothy May (Drew) Cooper, 92, formerly of Georgetown, passed away on July 10, 2018 surrounded by her family at Haverhill Crossings.

Born in Ayer, Massachusetts on Friday, November 13, 1925, daughter of the late Richard Drew, Sr. and Marion E. (Cook) Drew, Dorothy was raised in Ayer and Lynn. She graduated from Lynn Classical High School and lived in Georgetown since 1956 and Haverhill Crossings Assisted Living in Haverhill, Massachusetts since 2014. Dorothy is predeceased by her husband, Robert W. Cooper, who passed away in 1985.

Dorothy was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and her family always came first.

In early years, Dorothy was employed as a dental assistant to Dr. Clarence Parker of Lynn,  and later worked 20 years at the Georgetown School Lunch Program, retiring in 1985. She was an amazing baker, lovingly making her very famous rolls, cookies and muffins for all the students and teachers in the Georgetown school system.   

Dorothy was the first Mother Advisor of Georgetown Rainbow Assembly #98. She was a past member of Georgetown Eastern Star Order #176 and a member of the former Byfield Community United Methodist Church.

She leaves her sister, Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Barnes of Lutz, Florida, her son, Ronald Cooper and his wife Lois Cooper of Salem, N.H., daughter, Wendy (Cooper) Kaye of Hampstead, N.H., 5 very special grandchildren: Amy, Eric and Brian Kaye and Adam and Ross Cooper, 5 great grandchildren, several very special nieces and nephews, and many dear neighbors and friends.  She was predeceased by her brother, Richard Drew Jr. of Hamilton, Mass.

Dorothy’s family would like to extend their sincere thanks to her very special Nurse Practioner, Tracy Ramos and her staff for her special care.  Also, Haverhill Crossings and Constellation Health Services for their care and dedication to her.

Service information: At Dorothy’s request, her service and burial will be private. Dorothy will be laid to rest next to her husband, parents and grandparents at Prospect Cemetery, Mason, NH. Arrangements are by the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral homes, Haverhill and Bradford Contributions may be made to Boston Children’s Hospital, 333 Longwood Ave., Boston, MA 02115.
