LYNN — Richard Sheridan “Dick” Comstock, age 64, of Lynn, died peacefully on Tuesday at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, surrounded by his loving family, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. He was the loving and devoted husband and best friend of Sharon E. (Sutton) Comstock, with whom he shared 16 years of marriage.

Born in Dartmouth, N.H., he was the son of the late Stuart and Mary (Colson) Comstock. He was raised in Uxbridge, and graduated from high school in Summit, N.J. Dick was stationed in Hawaii while serving in the United States Army, and then lived there for another 14 years. He had lived in Lynn for the past 22 years.

Dick was employed by Galaxy Contracting/“Our House.” He was previously in the music industry, and produced several CDs, including the “Jed Hover Revue.” He was a devoted Yankees fan, and enjoyed golfing, skiing, bowling, traveling the world, and spending time with his grandchildren; watching and participating in every aspect of their lives. Dick loved animals, especially his late dogs, Rescue and Frankie, and his loving cats, Stripes and Sapphire. He was loved by all who knew him, and touched many lives in some way. He had a zest for life, a love for people, and a kind and gentle soul. He always found the good in everyone. He was a great neighbor, always willing to lend a helping hand, no matter what the task.

In addition to his loving wife, he will be dearly missed by his loving daughter and son-in-law, Nicole and Dr. Mark Sanphy of Swampscott; his grandchildren, Lily and Liam Sanphy of Swampscott; his brothers, Andrew Comstock and his wife Barbara of Point Pleasant, N.J., and William Comstock and his wife Inta of Boynton Beach, Fla.; his nephew, Matthew Comstock and his wife Heather of Budd Lake, N.J.; his nieces, Lindsay Comstock of Charleston, S.C.; his great-nephew and nieces, Dylan, Ella and Emerson Comstock; his uncles, Andy Colson of Watchung, N.J., and Foster Comstock of Chelmsford; his best friend, Jim “Hover” Clarke of Northfield, as well as many cousins.

Service information: At Dick’s request, there will be no visiting hours, and services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Owen Clarke Foundation, 757 Old Wendell Road, Northfield, MA 01360. Arrangements by the SOLIMINE Funeral Home, Lynn. Guestbook at www.solimine.com.
