LYNN — Mrs. Barbara J. (Young) Farewell, 84 years, of Lynn, died on Saturday, June 30, 2018 in the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers after a brief illness.
She was born in Milton, the daughter of the late Robert and Louise (Chaulk) Young. She was raised in Milton and graduated Milton High School. She has lived in Lynn the past 60 years.
Barbara was employed for 25 years as a companion for the Greater Lynn Senior Services. She was an active member of the Swampscott Church of Spiritualism. She enjoyed playing cards, all games, bingo and the lottery. She enjoyed her family the most as a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her daughters, Loralee Farewell-Charros and her husband Mike of Lynn, Roberta Medrano and her husband Jose of Lynn; her step children, Terri Farewell of Lynn and Robert Farewell Jr. and his wife Casey of New Hampshire. She leaves her former husband, Robert “Jack” Farewell Sr. of Lynn; her grandchildren, Shawn O’Brien and his partner Pam of Lynn, Shannon O’Brien and her partner Mike of Lynnfield, Tanya O’Brien of Indiana, Christopher Gomez and his partner Ivonne of Lynn, Gabrielle Farewell, Frankie Aleman, Orlando Aleman, Alexandra and Caitlin Charros. Her great-grandchildren, Cody, Tasia, Blazen, Jeremiah, Reinalis and Lennox. She is the sister of Richard Hogan and his wife Elaine of Lynn, a sister-in-law, Helen Hogan of Lynn and the late Robert Young, Bruce Hogan, Ruth Young and Loralee Hogan. She is the mother of the late Gladys Prouty.
Service information: Her funeral will be held on Friday, July 6, 2018 at 11 a.m. in the Swampscott Church of Spiritualism, 59 Burrill St., Swampscott. Visitation period in the Swampscott Church of Spiritualism from 9-11 a.m. just prior to her service. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Cremation and burial will be private.
