LYNN — Elizabeth A. “Betty” (Dion) Condon, 83, of Lynn, died Sunday, May 13, 2018 after a lengthy, fierce battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was the wife of the late Robert E. “Bob” Condon, with whom she had shared 60 years of marriage, and who predeceased her this past February.
Born in Lynn to the late Alfred and Elizabeth (Regan) Dion, Betty lived in Lynn for most of her life. She was raised by her late grandmother, Catherine Dion, and was a graduate of Lynn English High School, Class of 1951.
Betty worked as a clerk for the Probation Department at Lynn District Court for many years until her retirement. She was also a clerk for B & M Railroad from 1951-1959.
Betty was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Church in Lynn, and also volunteered at the Sacred Heart Food Pantry. She volunteered for various political campaigns through the years, and was a longtime Election Day poll checker.
Betty is survived by her son, John Condon and wife Kathy Burns of Nahant, son Kevin Condon and wife Linda of Swampscott; daughter, Kathy Ryan and husband Jay of Nahant, daughter, Maureen Colby and husband Brian of Magnolia; her grandchildren, Katelyn Dahlstrom and husband John, Kerri, Marybeth and Meghan Colby, Christopher and Erin Condon, Matthew and Sarah Ryan. Betty also enjoyed a close-knit group of dear friends from West Lynn in the area of Myrtle Street, and she was often the leader of the pack to organize support for a cause, a family, or a friend in need.
Service information: Betty’s funeral will be held on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. from the SOLIMINE Funeral Home, 426 Broadway, Lynn, followed by funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, Lynn, and then burial in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn.
