Alfred M. Chadbourne Jr., 77

LYNN — Mr. Alfred M. Chadbourne Jr., age 77, of Lynn, died on Tuesday, April 17, 2018, following a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Conchita (Sanchez-Perez) Chadbourne, with whom he shared more than 53 years of marriage.

Born in Lynn in 1941, Al was the son of the late Alfred M. Sr. and Catherine (Codair) Chadbourne. He was raised and educated in Lynn and graduated from Lynn English High School in 1959. Following graduation, Al enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving from 1960-1966. During that time, he met Conchita while serving in Spain. They returned to Lynn in 1964 to raise their family.

Al worked as a telephone technician for New England Telephone and later AT&T for more than 25 years. After retirement, he went to work in the communication department at Addison-Wesley Publishing Company.

Al was a very skilled carpenter, always working on something at his home that he built, or at another relative or friend’s home. In 1986, he bought a home in Augusta, Maine, a place that he and his family have enjoyed for many years. He enjoyed attending the Adult Day Care at both Pondview in Lynn and the Shapiro-Rudolph Adult Day Care in Peabody. He was an avid skier and enjoyed crossword puzzles.  

Al is survived by his loving children, Lynn Police Officer Joseph Chadbourne, of Lynn and Ana Maria Chadbourne, of the Lynn School Department and her fiancé Alfredo Damaso of Lynn; his beloved grandchildren, Andrew Donovan and his wife Jennifer of Nottingham, N.H., and Christopher Donovan of Washington, D.C.; his brothers and sisters, James Chadbourne of Maine, Kevin Chadbourne of Florida, Danville Chadbourne and his companion Janice Marler of Maine, Anne Walat and her husband Erwin of Maine and Karen Grant of Lynn; and his many nieces, nephews and extended family both here and in Spain.

Service information: His funeral will be held on Monday, April 23, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. at the SOLIMINE Funeral Home, 426 Broadway (Route 129), Lynn followed by a funeral Mass in St. Mary Church, Lynn, at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Lynn. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours will be on Sunday from 3-7 p.m. Donations in Al’s memory may be made to the Stem Transplant and Discovery Fund, Mass General Hospital-Development Office, 125 Nashua St., Boston, MA 02114.
