SAUGUS — Mrs. Gloria M. (Noftle) McCallum, age 78, died on Saturday at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital in Melrose. She was the wife of the late William D. McCallum Sr.
Born and raised in Chelsea, she was the daughter of the late William and Bertha (Sheppard) Noftle. A resident of Saugus for the last 51 years, she worked for many years as a telephone operator at Prime Communication. Mrs. McCallum was an avid bingo player.
She is survived by her three children, William McCallum Jr., and his wife, Gail, of Danvers, Bryan McCallum and his wife, Michelle, of California, and Brenda Martin and her husband, Thomas, of Saugus, six grandchildren, Danielle, Erin, Morgan, John, Scott, Lindsay and two great-grandchildren. Mrs. McCallum was the sister of Fred Noftle of Utah and Bertha Curdo of Ayer.
Service information: Visiting hours will be held in the Bisbee-Porcella Funeral Home, 549 Lincoln Ave., Saugus, on Wednesday, 4-8 p.m. Relatives and friends invited. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday at 11 a.m. Interment Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
