LYNN — Rita (Gallant) Bourque, 93, a longtime resident of Lynn, passed away in the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers on Sunday, March 20, 2016.
Born in New Bedford, on Jan. 26, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Alfred J. and Mary Ann (LeBlanc) Gallant. Rita married her sweetheart, Joseph A. Bourque, in September of 1945 and the couple settled in their Lynn home in the late 1940s.
Rita was an accomplished soloist and sang in her church parish of Sacred Heart in Lynn. She was also a very talented seamstress.
Rita is survived by her daughter, Theresa McKeon of Lynn, her grandchildren, John McKeon, Kathleen Colgan, and John D. Bourque III, as well as several great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Rita was preceded in death by her son, John D. Bourque. She was also the last of six siblings.
Service information: A funeral service will be held in the CUFFE-MCGINN Funeral Home, 157 Maple St., Lynn, on Monday, March 28, 2016, at 7 p.m. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 4-7 p.m. Burial services will be held privately.
